It wasn't really fully explored what LV2 meant. I think if you were trying to send a specific message to someone, you would have just perhaps carved their initials. That would have been enough to let them know you were thinking of them in your last moments. There is another theory which comes from Secrets fanfic that, LV2 was a call sign or code. Secrets also has the theory that

Zaf sold Ruth out under torture, which is how Mani found her.

It's just a theory. I can't believe for one moment though that Zaf didn't talk, being under torture for all that time.

Another thing is as well as Zaf having the virus, wasn't he shot in the stomach? I guess if he was worth a high price, they probably gave him good medical care to keep him alive.
