But, if it is a past character returning, the possibilities boggle the mind!

I suspect KUDOs is toying with us by releasing little spoilers. If they wanted this particular scene to remain a secret, they would have found a way to set the scene in the privacy of a studio. This has the smell of a red herring or a teaser.

As Willy Wonka would say, "The suspense is killing me. I hope it will last!"

Hard to say!! I think they are surprised about who it is but all in all seem quite upset about what they did
