Are Spooks not total heroes?

They're definitely not perfect heroes, but they're people who put their lives on the line to protect ours. They don't enjoy torture, but they have to take one person's human rights and see if it's worth the people's lives that could die if they don't foil the attack. Even if they aren't always in the right, they normally are doing it to save us, and for me that makes them heroes...
