RE: Tom or Matthew?
He wrestled with this
Spoiler: show
holding out for so long when it came to informing Ellie of his real identity/occupation - which did him no favours - and then announced/revealed everything to that obvious utter fruitcake of a doctor (on the rebound) which caused no end of ruction
and ultimately there wasn't an obvious answer at all.

RE: Tom or Matthew?
Quote:“By the way, My name's not Matthew it's Tom. "

That line made me laugh, I totally imagine Tom saying “By the way, My name's not Matthew it's Tom. Nice to meet you” and the cool face of Tom like it was something of everyday.

Well, if I was already in love, I would ask him to start from zero, start dating again, and get to know this new person. But I don’t doubt that I would have trusting issues. But if I was really in love I’ll give him a second chance. But if was a recent relationship I leave him, I think that life it’s way too much for me.

RE: Tom or Matthew?
But Tom wasn't a new person, he was the same person with just a different name ! A lot of people don't necessarily use their first name, sometimes using a 'nick' name or their second name.
If Ellie really loved Tom it shouldn't matter what his name was, or what he did for a job providing he was honest with her from then on.

RE: Tom or Matthew?
It wasn't just the name though; he also pretended to work in IT for the government (in the civil service I do believe)...

RE: Tom or Matthew?
It’s like Nia M said, it’s not only the name. And if he lied about his name in what another things he didn't lie? That’s why I think its better start from zero, get to know him again, maybe he just lie in his name or maybe is a totally new person.

Ps: Sorry for the grammar mistakes Blush

RE: Tom or Matthew?
I really dont know! because i always think she had an incling (SP) that something wasnt right with him! that he was always sneeking off and things, but as long as it was explained why then i think i would be ok! because i think i could understand why he lied

RE: Tom or Matthew?
i prefer Matthew just because he is more loving to Ellie and Maisy, once they had found out he was a spy it was really awkward between them, so i totally prefer Matthew.

RE: Tom or Matthew?
I think Ellie did over react a little - when you look at the magnitude of his job. Whenever she was on the phone telling him that her and Masie needed him I always wanted him to be all "A bomb's about to go off in the middle of London (or whatever it was in that particular episode). It's my job to sort it out." But he never did. To his credit, I think.

So yeah, Ellie handled it badly. She was selfish. But that's a very human failing.

Series 2 Spoiler: show
Although Tom was prepared to die with them both. Surely you'd want to keep hold of a guy like that?

Not sure if that had to be spoilered. Thought it was better to be safe than sorry!

RE: Tom or Matthew?
Maybe i wouldn't leave. yeah, a name is only a signal, which means nothing.
What really matters is if they wanna keep going like that.
