Feature Requests

RE: Feature Requests
If there were two teams, they could set each other challenges. People could play as individuals within the team, gaining awards for themselves and at the same time, helping, the team as a whole to gain more status. That would save you the task of designing the challenges. Team members could send a staff member the clues and the solutions at the same time. The staff member could check to see that they worked and weren't impossible to crack.

When they solve the clue, they discover a keyword which unlocks the secret part of the site. When the solver gets into the 'secret' part of the site, they could get an award, see their team's progress and be encouraged to go and tackle another clue.

I was thinking of something like directing people to public sites and having a sort of 'book code', perhaps. When the words are found, they form a clue (like a crossword clue) which has to be solved

Or you could cut out the book code bit, and just have crossword-type clues, or 'next in series'-type ones for the Mensa people! The clues could be rated 'easy, medium, hard' etc by the staff member and solvers would get more points for cracking the hard ones. An easy one would be perhaps to finish a quotation you could just google, whereas a hard one would be something cryptic you had to work out yourself.

People could add clues to keep the momentum going, so there would always be a selection of clues to try.

From what I've seen of the postings here, I don't think there would be any shortage of quality clue-writing!

RE: Feature Requests
Some good ideas there praxis. Another idea I've had is to have the two teams, and then regular missons/puzzles get released by me, and the first team to solve it gets a point for the team and the member who solved it. Then you can have a league table.

Could even have more than one team. Then maybe a big prize at the end of the year or some milestone for the winning team?

Sounds fab, Nitrus! Let me know if you want any help with anything, won't you? I could set some puzzles if you want.

Do you mean empty your PM trash can with a single click? Rather than deleting each PM individually?

Like this?

Series 9 Episode 1 Spoiler: show
Spoiler for episode 1

The code for the above is this:

Code:
[spoiler=9 Episode 1]Spoiler for episode 1[/spoiler]

Whatever you put after the '=' will appear after the word Series in the title. So it does allow you to be very specific. I could even put a timecode in there.

Hope that helps and please clarify on the trash can matter.

Thanks for clarifying the spoiler thing Nitrus. As for the trash can, yes I meant having one single button that deletes everything in one go.

You already can. On the PM page there's a bar with some links in it, one of those is Empty Folders. Click that and you can empty the trash can from there.

Let me know if you have any difficulty doing it. Smile

RE: Feature Requests
Bear in mind here I have NO clue about websites and computers so if what I suggest is utterly ridiculous then please don't laugh too loudly Tongue But I was wondering about a mobile version of the site, would that be possible? Cos my crappy phone can't handle being on Spooks Forum I know other people don't have that problem so it could just be me and my techno cluelessness Tongue

RE: Feature Requests
There's this version: http://www.spooksforum.co.uk/archive/index.php

It's read-only, so you can't post anything but that's the best I can do. Realistically there's nothing I could do to make it work better on your mobile unless it's a smartphone (iphone/blackberry).

RE: Feature Requests
I was just thinking the same thing yesterday, YFM. I'll let Nitrus answer, but I suspect a number of the add ons that have been installed won't work with a mobile theme. Nitrus?
Can you setup something like m.spooksforum.co.uk to point there? What about a Crackberry/Android/iPhone version?

RE: Feature Requests
Smartphones don't need their own version, it works fine on my iphone as it is.

As for m.spooksforum.co.uk, a mobile version of this site including all functionality is something I'd have to code myself, and it's something that would take several months.

I just don't think it's worth it in this day and age.

RE: Feature Requests
I'd agree. Just curious.

It works OK on the iPhone.
