S9 had faults that were about as big as the grand canyon, to me, S6 was actually decent in comparison to the storyline arc S9 showed. Watching S9's Lucas Storyline is like watching the Titanic sink.ConfusedDodgy

Guys, please try and keep the discussion to episode one. You can discuss the season in general in the appropriate thread.

RE: Series 9 Episode 1 discussion
This episode had a bad write up in the Sydney Morning Herald's TV guide this week. I usually agree with the reviewer in question and he's been a fan of the show for years so I was disappointed, especially as I really liked this episode. So a bad review this early in the season probably means more poor ones to come.

Did they say what in particular they didn't like? Not a great start for the new series in Australia. I also liked 9.1, a great introduction for the new characters.

I thought it was pretty ambiguous tbh. The only judgemental comment was wether Sophia Myles would fill Hermoine Norris' shoes. Are you sure you're not talking Telegraph?

No it was definitely in the Guide. It got a thumbs down. Sacha Molitorisz was the reviewer.

Was it today's paper? The Sun Herald that we bought last Sunday (with this week's tv guide) definitely gave a positive review to Spooks. I checked my tv guide. Maybe we both got different days? Goes and looks up reviewer Tongue

I thought 9.1 was one of the best episodes of series nine incidentally so I find a negative review rather strange.

I kept hoping the writers left themselves an out in case needed a way to bring her back...Also, was there any actual mention of the former HS (Andrew Lawrence) dying in the explosion? I watched the first episode late last night after I got the dvd's, so it is possible I might have missed something. Ros was ahead of him as they were trying to get away from the bomb, and since she didn't survive, it wouldn't seem very likely (or logical) he did. After 9 seasons, I know better than to try and apply my idea of logic to the next turn of events on Spooks, though Tongue.

Not sure how I felt about NB calling Ruth a dogged, brilliant bitch. Suppose it's a step up from her last canine metaphor when Juliet called her a [cocker] spaniel. At least this time around she gets a "brilliant" thrown in for good measure.

I don't recall any mention of Andrew Lawrence but assume he was killed along with Ros.

RE: Series 9 Episode 1 discussion
You'd think that losing a Home Secretary in a bomb explosion would rate a mention even on Spooks...
