RE: Series 9 Newspaper Reviews / Viewing figures etc
According to Digital Spy the Spooks finale drew 5.36 million viewers but was beaten by the Little House on ITV.

Hope they took HD viewers into consideration as I watched it on BBC1 HD for the first time.

Well at least it was up some 350k viewers than E7 and it doesn't mention HD.

I did hope for a little better. I think they aired it slightly earlier this year to avoid I'm A Celebrity...........

I hadn't realised the overnights weren't the definitive figure so we'll see what the BARBs are in due course.

The comments are funny.

Rooftop scene:
Beth and Dmitri sneak up and disarm Lucas, cuff him and lead him away.
Lucas screams, "No Harry please, I'd rather die!"

Harry: "We're sending you to rehab ................. in Texas."

As someone who grew up in China, I should just warn people that the Chinese government is always very sensitive when its agencies are portrayed negatively, and honestly, I find it to be stupid and silly. It's just a TV show, it's FICTION for a reason.

Complaining just makes one sound like whining babies. Getting upset over how a TV show is portraying you is just incredibly stupid. It's not as if Chinese televisions haven't portrayed Europeans or Americans or other foreign countries as evil and nefarious.

The Chinese government gets offended easily, they're like babies sometimes, getting upset just because someone said something unpleasant about them.

Funny. Spooks does it again. This time unintentionally. That's what they get for leaving us Cousins alone for once! Hey, who you callin' a dunderhead? Big Grin

At least Auntie is in good company with Mickey Mouse and the Dirty Digger. Wink

Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet [Spooks];
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

Haha! That's so funny. Ooh, maybe one of the Chinese-related stories came closer to the truth than we know... My money's on the cyber-attack thing. Hope all UK government agencies have a Tariq to notice unwanted snooping in their databases.

I thought this was written really well, definitely a bit of humour from the journalist I think.
Some governments are so easily upset!

Didn't Peter Firth say something about how in the beginning of the show, MI5 used to give them cooperation and stuff, but the guys they send can never say or answer anything, and then later they just stopped cooperating, and Peter said something about how that freed the show to tell its own stories, and how MI5 may have stopped cooperating because the show was hitting a little too close to home.

Funny how it's different with one of the US shows called Covert Affairs, a show about a young female CIA agent. The CIA gave the show access into Langley to talk to its staff and are relishing in cooperating with a show that portrays the CIA in a positive light. I think the CIA was tired of them always being portrayed as the bad guys, so when Covert Affairs came on, they were so happy to help a show portray the CIA as a nicer agency! Cute!Smile

The Chinese are always so sensitive about these things, they love their reputation above all else.

I saw that article in the paper today and laughed so much. Spooks is not meant to be taken seriously. It's a drama, and although sometimes the writers can hit pretty close to the truth, I think the show is definitely still just fiction. China is being a bit picky - imagine if every time a British tv show insulted Americans, the Americans got upset. Spooks picks on lots of countries, just as other programs such as Top Gear do. It is not a major diplomatic problem.

DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered.
