No, I don't think so otherwise he would have stolen it for the Russians. Once the team had the details from the Professor he simply carried on with the team hoping for an opportunity to steal later.

RE: Series 9 Episode 3 discussion
I thought this episode was good. It had a good start because the thought of Harry being wrong about letting that russian guy go was a good idea. Sad though Harry should never get anything wrong he is too good for that. Thhug

The russian being on the grid was always going to spell out trouble as soon as the decision was made. Everybody knows how things like that end. Blush

And as for the last scene, well did it really need to happen?!?!?!Huh In the episode before Maya said that she had a boyfriend and that is not going to change just because Lucas/John has come back into her life and yet there she is kissing him as much as he was kissing her! If I was her (and I wish I was in this scene) then I would have been saying; 'What do you think you are doing?? You can't expect to just come back into my life and think that THAT is going to happen!!!'Angry
(I think I was just really really really jealous in this sceneSmileSilba) and can we please not have anymore love interests for Lucas?? He's turning into Adam!!!!!Confused

Its not her you want its me!!

Hmmm, if I had half a brain and was a spy I would be wondering why she caved in so quickly after so long, but clearly Lucas had other things on his mind at that point. Anyway, I think she is suss. Maya or Maya and Vaughn are playing Lucas. She is trying to throw him off balance I think. Maybe get into his laptop, passwords etc. She's not just there to be his girlfriend...is she?

The house did look a bit swish. I wonder what he keeps in his shed?

I loved this episode. One of the best so far Smile. Why can't Ruth just get over herself and marry Harry. Everyone knows thats what they both want.
That russian guy on the grid. There's always someone there to ruin an operation. :/ Glad he died and I liked the video the home secretary played for the Russian Ambassador. Very clever. I wondered how they would get out of that mess.
Can't Lucas'/John's friend be in it more. He is so intruiging. I cannot wait to find out more about Lucas' past. And as for Maya she said she had a boyfriend. She's just being greedy now :/ haha.

It's only just beginning...

I think you might be right as she probably knew Vaughan with Lucas/John from before so they may well be working together to find the file and she knows that Lucas/John will be an easy target for her. Interesting I hadn't cottoned onto that!! I agree that I wish that wouldn't class RA as the tottie (I mean I know he is) but you'd think he'd have learnt from the last series all too much the same even though I have to say I'm extremely loyal to RA and his work

Well I suspect that Vaughen will threaten Maya in someway and that is how he will get Lucas to do his bidding. He must Know about Maya because it was him who gave Lucas the suitcase with the photo in.

RE: Series 9 Episode 3 discussion
I haven't read the previous comments yet (I am actually meant to be working!) but as I think more about the third episode, I think I may have spotted two flaws in an otherwise amazing episode.

1) Comms working underground? Has their communication technology really improved that much that they can now communicate with the Grid from underground? (Ok, this is nit picky but it also really annoyed me when I first watched it).

2) At the end when Viktor (sp?) was shot, and they edited the footage, surely the Russians would have done what the British had done at the beginning of the episode, and had the live signal relayed to them so that they could watch it live to check that they weren't being lied to? And if it was not being sent to the Russians, where was the film being stored? As far as I could see (although admittedly I wasn't concentrating at the time) he didn't appear to have any sort of storage facility, e.g. a disk, on him.

Nit picking over, back to revising for a Physics Application Test... Sad

DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered.

RE: Series 9 Episode 3 discussion
I'm so glad I could see this episode so early, I did close the blinds and play it, I can't watch Spooks in plain light Tongue

Now the serious stuff or whatever. I really enjoyed this episode, it kept me on the edge of the seat, it must have had some predictable events but they were great moments which make up for them.

Harry and the HS scenes were great, I think we have a new baddie who will play against Harry Big Grin I must say, as somebody has mentioned before, that he passed from "The man, the legend, the mith" to " not interested in your old-fashioned beliefs" too quickly, but I guess William Towers can be like that if he finds out that he can't manipulate Harry with his nice words.

Secondly, I'd like to talk about the Dr. Kirby storyline. I LOVED it. He was a really kind and honest man and he had also had guts, he was willing to sacrifice his daugther to keep the Paroxocybin away from people he didn't trust. I really fell for him, he had courage. I wish there were more people like him. Very well acted.

I also think that Dimitri and Tariq should be explored further, but I guess (have faith) that we get to know something about them.

Harry and Ruth... Well, I'm more heartbroken, even more than last week, they are going to kill me. I (want to) think that the writers are showing us these struggle to a final happy ending this series... :/

(05-10-2010 05:24 AM)lwhite53 Wrote:  And then there's Lucas who swore to Maya that he was going to tell her everything. Well, he told her that part of "everything" that we already know -- he was in prison for eight years. He conveniently forgot to tell her that he had been married and also left out the five years prior to his being locked away in Russia. So much for the truth. And, of course, he jumps into a relationship with her -- this plot line is getting to be very predictable and seriously boring.

Yeah, that's exactly what I thought... I can't believe Maya has fallen in Lucas' arms so easily, he said a couple of things and "close your eyes" and they were kissing, and they continued kissing, COME ON!! The only explanation is what Tea Lady said; I haven't thought of this, but it makes sense!!

(05-10-2010 08:42 AM)khandy Wrote:  I was wondering if people's criticism of the Vaughen Albany plot line stems from the fact that it does not involve Harry or Ruth. What I mean is Sugarhorse was revealed slowly about five minutes of every episode until episode 7 was spent on it but it all involved Harry.

Nightingale again we learned very little each episode but what we did was pretty much done via Ruth as a tool to show us how valuable she is to the Grid.
So far Albany is being played out via Lucas. Who it seems is the most disliked character ever on spooks, well on the Spooks forums anyway and he is not popular on the RA sites either.

I disagree here, I really like Lucas character, and it's not a matter of Lucas OR Harry/Ruth thing, you can both like both storylines or the three characters and that's my case (well, to be honest I have an certain inclination to this couple, but I love Lucas). There's no conflict for me.
I still have faith in Vaughan/Albany storyline, we don't know much yet to judge.
Regarding Vaughan I think he hesitate, because Harry knowing the truth wouldn't help him.

One final thought about Lucas, my concern is that I can't believe he loves Maya so much. In series 7, they made us to believe Elisaveta was her true love, and now Maya? hmm I'm not convinced (I don't include here Christine 2.0 because I'm sure he didn't love her, it was just a fling).

Sorry for this endless post Confused

you can hand wave that as the under ground has a leakey feeder system. for its comms its not a stretch post 7/7 to assume that the security services could have access to that.
