[Spoilers] Interview with S9 writers Sam Vincent & Jonathan Brackley
Cultbox interview with S9 writers. They are also writing for S10. There are a couple of questions about S10, but they don't really reveal anything. Also, if anyone knows what "Berlin corners" means? Please let me know. Wink

I didn't get that comment either...

The stuff about series nine made me so annoyed Tongue

Could be a reference to Operation Omega (mentioned in an early Juliet episode - possibly S4)? Although wasn't that Cologne, not Berlin?

I haven't actually listened to this yet though, because I'm not sure if it's spoilery for S10.

I love this bit:

"We just hope the Peter Firth fans don’t react in the same way in Series 10 when we reveal that Harry has always actually been a cross-dressing quintuple agent and deranged serial arsonist working for North Korea." That's funny! Big Grin

As for 'Berlin corner', do you think it may refer to the black op he was involved in - pre Spooks era?

Spoiler: show
The one where he staged terrorist attacks in Germany?
If so, am pretty sure that's Omega (see my previous post). In which case, I'm sure that was Cologne, not Berlin. Would have to check in Harry's Diary though.

“Everyone felt that the darkness and mystery of both character and actor suited it, so we can’t recall that many viable alternatives being pitched around the table.

I will refrain from commenting. Dodgy

I'm also intrigued by the "Berlin corners" comment. I wonder what it could mean?

You are correct. It was Omega and it was in Cologne. I don't think these writers are going to make it that easy for us to figure out. Wink

There is a Berlin Corners, Vermont. Maybe Harry has been a double agent for the CIA the whole time? Thud Wink As a cross-dressing serial arsonist, of course. Gotta sex it up!

Thanks for the article, TeaLady. Very interesting to see what they have to say about it. They wrote some really good S9 episodes. 9.1, 4, 5, 6 were all great episodes. The ball seemed to unravel on them in 9.8 though.

Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet [Spooks];
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

Perhaps 'Berlin Corners' is another reference to them wanting to go back to a more le Carre style of storytelling in season 10? Don't they say that on the DVD extras somewhere?

Also, Harry's 'the spy they want to kick back out into the cold.' Le Carre's The Spy Who Came In From the Cold plays out in Berlin, with the climax focussing on trying to cross the Berlin Wall.

The comment about Peter Firth fans was quite telling I thought.

When was the Cologne thing Nia?

Yes, you could be right there Silktie. It was mentioned in the commentary to 9.7. They tried to move away from action "24" type drama in S9 and would go further towards le Carre in S10.
