It would be terrible if they made Harry into a mole... The Harry we all know just doesnt seem to fit the mole type...that would make him the master of all spies... (wait a minute: he IS a master of all spies....:O)... In this case of scenario i rather see them to blow up the whole section D than see one more betrayal... If thats all spooks writers can come up with then im going to regret i ever fell into this tv show....

You are right that the older Harry does not seem to fit the mole type. As one of the producers said on Series 9, there is a line that Harry would not cross. But we have never seen the young and brash Harry. If something happened, it was at the beginning of his career (like Juliet told him: Oh, young love!). I am still wondering whether Harry really betrayed his friend in Northern Ireland and lied about it as Tessa had implied in Series 1.

In 9.8 Harry did not seem to be mad at Ruth when she believed that he had betrayed the country. He understood that she was ready to die for her country. The thread that Harry would distanced himself from Ruth because she thought he was disloyal does not seem plausible.

I give up! I do not have the imagination of the writers. Who else but the writers would bring back Ruth in such horrific way in 8.1? Let us hope that they will surprise us this time in a good way.

The more I read reviews and whispers on Twitter, the less I am confident that there will be a happy ending. The two endings I would hate: Ruth leaves the grid because she cannot accept Harry's past; Ruth becomes a target because somebody from Harry's past wants to take revenge on him.

New article (well I hadn't seen it before) with quotes from Peter Firth saying he still doesn't know whether Spooks 10 is the last.

I'm firmally in the camp of hoping it's not!

I predict the ending will be Ruth and Harry finishing their last operation before they're due to get married... their marriage ceremony happens... we see some old faces like Malcolm who turns up to the wedding. Everything is going well... then Harry and Ruth drive off to head to their honeymoon when a guy on a motorbike comes to the side of Harry's car and shoots Ruth dead. Harry is left holding his dead bride in his arms ( a bit like the ending to James Bonds' Majesty's Secret Service)...

I'm hoping that Spooks doesn't end for a very long time though!

At least Harry and Ruth would have some happiness with your scenario. We would, finally after 9 years, see a kiss or a hint of something more. I am afraid that Spooks will not even give us that. It is not dramatic enough in a "spooky" way. It is sad that Spooks has conditioned us to expect the worst.

Agreed. Harry has done some questionable things but fans have remained loyal because they somehow still portray him as being the overall good guy, the hero who saves the day. Questionable things for his service, his country. Even when he's gone against his superiors/ the reigning government he did so for the country's overall big picture. He's never done anything for his own interests, always claiming the country is bigger than his job etc. Turning him into a mole or sleeper agent or acting against the country would make a mockery of 10 years. Shocking an audience still needs to retain them. Lucas was expendable to the show, (even though I think the writers went to the limit with his story) and there was always a hint in there that eventually he would turn, but I don't think Harry could be the same. Please, no.
