RE: Raza Jaffrey
I couldn't actually bring myself to watch Smash. I know if I recorded it, it would just sit on my planner for months. Had to let this one go.

Semi interested in Raza's new role in Chicargo, in the West End. I'm not a big musical fan though so haven't made my mind up. Is he right for the part of Billy Flynn??

RE: Raza Jaffrey
I agree. He'd be a great Billy Flynn. And if you have to do a musical, it's definitely one of the better ones! It's less boy meets girl, boy looses girl, boy gets girl back and more boy meets girl, girl murders boy, boy gets girl off of murder charges by blatant emotional manipulation of the press. As pertinent a subject now as it was when it was written 40 years ago. What's not to love? Wink

I've been watching SMASH and it is a silly show bordering on a cr*p. Silba But Raza's good in it. If you don't like musicals even a little bit it is not the show for you. It is worth watching for the cameos, solos and production numbers. Raza has a particularly good one in episode 12, A Thousand and One Nights: http://www.hulu.com/watch/352844/smash-a...one-nights (Unfortunately, this link is only viewable in the US.)

The plot is a soap opera and takes itself a bit too seriously for my taste. But most of the cast is doing the best they can (Jack Davenport, Christian Borle, Megan Hilty, Raza Jaffrey), a couple are disappointments (Debra Messing and Angelica Huston) and one is simply God awful (Katherine McPhee).

The best part of the show are the recaps my favorite being this one from The Vulture: http://www.vulture.com/2012/02/smash-rec...ode-1.html It is cynical and satirical and sardonic and catty and hilarious! If SMASH approached itself like that, it would be a much better show.

Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet [Spooks];
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

I tried to watch that number on youtube, but I couldn't find it in good quality, I only found one video recording the tv... I was looking forward to watching it Tongue

I totally agree with you, AC; I like musicals but I don't like this show, I like the tiny bits with Raza and Jack Davenport voice Angel) but the plots are silly and I can't stand his girlfriend. I watched 4 or 5 episodes and I quit.
