RE: Possibly the best Series?
5?!?! 5 was good! All the Harry/Ruth scenes! (Ok, if I think of any other reasons why it was good, I will let you know Tongue)

DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered.

Thanks for reminding me of that one. It was great.

I'm glad I'm blissfully ignorant about guns and when to call in police support so can just take it all in at face value. I did enjoy everyone undercover playing roles for a sting op, imparting a Mission Impossible aura. That is mostly missing these days.

Rooftop scene:
Beth and Dmitri sneak up and disarm Lucas, cuff him and lead him away.
Lucas screams, "No Harry please, I'd rather die!"

Harry: "We're sending you to rehab ................. in Texas."

Watching Ep5.6 and the Neil Sternin character was really annoying me as I knew I'd seen him in something else - finally clocked he played one of Muriel's boyfriends in Muriel's Wedding, the bean bag scene if I remember....

RE: Possibly the best Series?
Absolutely the best series in my opinion. Not only do you finally have a long awaited Ruth/Harry date (the Charlie Chaplin scene preceeding it is so lovely too!), but you also have the introduction of Ros (one of my three favourite characters - the others being Harry and Ruth)! And while there is the tragedy of 5.5, it's such a fantastic scene on the docks, and so beautifully heart-breaking, that their last few moments together
Spoiler: show
(*cough*)
are my absolute favourite Spooks scene thus-so-far. It's also in this series that (I think anyway) the dynamics of the Adam/Zaf/Jo team really shine, and added Ros the the fray only improves it. While Colin's death is so so sad, "You can hurt me, but you won't humilate me." is a fantastic line, and the brilliant relationship between Harry and Malcolm is really brought into the light in 5.1.

As a Ros/Adam fan, 5.10 is also a favourite episode. I'm not a fan of PTSD Adam, especially not when is results in Ros having to go in and nearly drown as a result, his scenes with Ros up to and including the bit underwater is pretty awesome - I always get a lump in my throat when she starts screaming and he puts his hand out to her face. Plus that final shot in the negative is just brilliant Big Grin
Spoiler: show
And I think that whole scene underwater is the catalyst that sparks their relationship in series 6, for which I'm very grateful.

So basically, series 5 = DEFINATELY the best series to date for me Big Grin

RE: Possibly the best Series?
I was a bit surprised at the end of series 5. I thougth it was going to end on a cliffhanger with Ros and Adam trapped but it didn't. I have always wondered why ?
Also why did them being trapped and about to die
Spoiler: show
lead to them ending up in bed together in 6.1

Lucas 8.4: It's all about trust, isn't Harry ?.

RE: Possibly the best Series?
I think it was the fact that they were about to die, and thus had that moment underwater
Spoiler: show
where they (I believe) admitted that there might have been something between them. I've always thought that if Ros weren't Ros then a relationship between the two of them would have been likely from the onset, but since she's who she is, Ice Queen and all, it did make it less likely. Then that moment underwater came, and Adam saw her without her barriers up (no pun intended on their location at this point) and that was really what was stopping her, because she didn't like the thought of losing that image of her. He'd seen it then, so that wasn't a problem afterwards, and so she didn't push him away anymore.

I like the fact that for once it didn't end on a cliffhanger, because it meant that they were able to immediately launch into the new series, instead of having to tie off loose ends like all the other first episodes. Sure it adds to the suspense, but to me the whole point of a new series is to start a new idea, and a new plotline etc.

RE: Possibly the best Series?
Remember that series 3 didn't have a cliffhanger either.

RE: Possibly the best Series?
Hmm yeah I suppose, but I guess I was still reeling with shock after what happened that I missed that one out in my calculations... However, they did follow on from it with Danny's funeral in 4.01, so it did kind of continue into the next series.
