That was actually the first thing that came to my mind during the interview

I think it was said that it was from last year's set visit. This year's visit will take place over the next few days.

Just going back a bit, RA does mention the new American administration, China, and Russia, as being the Countries involved in S9 in his interview. So Russia is part of the storyline, but then again in saying that, it probably does feature somewhere in most series of Spooks. If you listen to the interview, RA's reaction when he is speaking about when he first read the script, is almost comical, in that he was totally amazed that his character was heading in that direction. If he was just penned in as being a Russian mole, I don't think he would have reacted in such a way. That's just my opinion though. I just read it like, it is something completely off the wall.

anyway, this whole Lucas Mystery is killing me now. RA will have to do tons more interviews over the next days once Strike Back is out and I keep my fingers crossed for some slip of the tongue (though I know he's professional and in control enough not to)

At last I was able watch the interview!!! I also think the russian spy story is too obvious, I don't think he would have reacted like that (as Tea Lady pointed out before), he himself could have thought about that possibility, it has to be something really different from that... I think it's something about his past.

But all of this is just especulation, and even could be RA saying what Kudos want him to say...

What I do liked is what he said about "peeling up layers and find whot these people really are"

Yes, some CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT in S9 will be SOOOOOOOOOO welcome.

And I agree, I hope there's no further messing with Lucas' "baseline" character (of loyalty etc), although RA saying "WHAT?" has me a little concerned. It'd be like messing with Harry's character (unthinkable).

All this talk is excruciating!!! Part of me wishes we weren't thrown teasers at all! I think Lucas being a Russian mole would be too obvious. But given the manner and duration of his incarceration, it would not be entirely unbelievable. But I think a more surprising twist is more likely.

When I watched the interview I immediately thought of Juliet Shaw, and wondered if Lucas is in "deep cover". Perhaps that is why he is not who we thought he was.
