RE: [spoilers] Harry and Lucas
hasnt lucas spent his 7/8 years thinking it was Harry who gave him up when it was connie? he hasnt said this to Harry. i really cant see them doing that to either charactor making lucas the trator! it has to be on eof the new people!

i always think it would have been interesting to see the relationship that lucas and harry had before he was taken, i wonder if like adam lucas was searching for a father figure and they get that in harry!

RE: [spoilers] Harry and Lucas
A lot characters have looked up to Harry as a father figure haven't they? Danny and Zoe are both upset that they have disappointed him (Danny with the credit cards, Zoe with her boyfriend in S1, and then after the EERIE exercise of 2.5 he hugs Zoe and kisses her forehead), he tries to comfort Ros in 6.08 with 'You are my outstanding officer'...

However, I'm not sure I would say Lucas necessarily sees him as a father figure (nor would I say that for Adam either). They both, on some level, want him to be proud of them, but neither are afraid to say they don't agree with him if they have to.

That said, it's interesting to note that when Connie asks Lucas who he blames for his incarceration, he says Harry. Fair enough, Harry was most likely the one who sent him to Russia (in fact, doesn't Kachimov say that's what happened?), but that doesn't immediatly mean that Harry was responsible.

RE: [spoilers] Harry and Lucas
To be honest, I think Lucas is the last person who wants a father figure. Let's not romanticise every man to man relationship on the show as being father-son. Or father-daughter, for that matter.

RE: [spoilers] Harry and Lucas
the reaosn i say so with adam is simply because ive jusy finished the adam uncoverd book where harry talks about that with adam that he was searching for that. i dont in any sense romanticise it just stating that its that kind of relationsip at times. i think the one between harry and lucas is more complicated because there has been that gap and there is the elephant in the room of the torture that lucas had. its definatly i dont think an easy relationship

well I wouldn't really call it romanticizing, maybe more of a conjecture..Smile

In the way I see it, while Lucas may not be looking for any father-figure, I think Harry is acting like a Papa Bear anyways. He just always seems to be a bit more protective, a bit more letting Lucas off when he should be scolded. His actions with Lucas just reminds me of a stern Papa with his son. And I would assume that since Lucas was once Harry's protege, it would mean a pretty close relationship. Lucas was Harry's best agent when he was lost in Moscow, it would have hit Harry pretty hard.

I'm rather interested in them bringing forward more of how Lucas was captured and what Harry tried to do to get him back in the earlier years of his imprisonment. Maybe they can get Tom to make a few appearances, I really want to see the Harry/Lucas/Tom dynamic.

RE: [spoilers] Harry and Lucas
Being a mentor and being protective is not the same as being a father figure.

I also don't think that Harry has ever been a father figure to anyone on the Grid and especially not Lucas.

Hmmmm maybe not, but it looked like that to me....Smile oh well, it's still a very good dynamic that I really really hope that the writers will not try to take it away. I don't want to see Lucas being a big traitor, that would rather ruin a lot of things. And I like the Harry/Lucas bond, they should explore that more.

On that we and just about everyone on the forum are agreed.

I guess I am just worried about what the writers are planning for Lucas since I read what Richard said in an interview about Lucas's true nature.

Evil Lucas would just make me cry...Undecided

RE: [spoilers] Harry and Lucas
Anyone else notice the intensity of that new photo of Lucas and Harry from Spooks 9? (From the BBC website and a WARNING: SPOILERS ON THE BBC WEBPAGE)

Notice the clever use of reflections, e.g. what's real, what isn't, what's hidden?

Mind you, it probably means NOTHING at all, but hey, I've got to keep my brain amused while waiting the 11+ days for the new series to start over there in the UK (I'm so jealous).
