Wish List for Season 9

I liked her pre-5.5 wardrobe better as well. It was softer and more overt: bonkers, if you will.

Wardrobe choices are never an accident though. She is still wearing long, flowing skirts and tunics, but the color palate has changed considerably: from bonkers yet brilliant reds to cool and collected blues. She is also not wearing prints anymore. Nothing that will make her stand out. I think that with her subdued wardrobe in S8, they are trying to reflect the change in her state of mind, maturity and experience. She is not the same person that left in 5.5. I will be curious to see if her wardrobe changes as she rediscovers her equilibrium on the grid.

They may also be trying to equalize the age difference between Harry and Ruth. Not that I have ever objected to it, but it felt a lot broader in S5 and prior than it does in S8.

In series 8 a lot of the cast seemed to wear dark colours, Lucas with his blue shirts, Harry was usually in a dark suit, Ros was usually dressed in a dark colour too.

I do think that making her seem more "plain" in her clothes, does show that perhaps she has grown up, indeed in Cyprus she however wearing as far as I remember a floaty more Ruth style white shirt. A lot of the costume choices I gather must be to do with the mood that they want to create.

I think you have hit the nail on the head there A Cousin. They are trying to age Ruth, and that was quite noticeable in S8. Her hair and clothes made her gain more than the three years she had been gone, in a nice way though. Ruth looked lovely in 8.7 with that blue suit I thought and I hope for S9 they continue that particular look.

My other wishes are (1) they get the lighting sorted out on the Grid so Harry's shirts look Daz white again (2) we get to see Harry in reading glasses in a real scene and not as a result of an editing fopar.

I think the wearing of darker colours started at some point during S7 though. Everything seemed to get a lot darker from then on.

As an aside, was it between S3 and S4 that the Grid kind of changed colour from the muted browns/green / cream to blue/black/silver?

I'd quite like them to get some better lighting on the Grid though - it always looks so dark now! Can't be good for their eyesight!

it is almsot some unwritten code you must wear mac jackets and little coats i wonder where they fit all there stuff in those pockets!

i agree about ruth she did used to be a bit more bonkers in her clothes didnt she?

My wish list for series 9 so I can watch it again is:

1 - Get rid of those stupid camera shots, trying to be Bourne Identity or what. Stick to frame shots so the audience can watch it properly.
2 - Get rid of Tariq. He could be killed off as a traitor or something.
3 - More interesting characters and not ones that people can gorp over.
4 - Better storylines.
5 - More team work like in Ep. 7 of Series 6 when they were all threatened by the IRA guy.
6 - Most importantly, bring back Malcolm!

and introduce the new characters in an interesting manner (like Jo), rather than randomly coming onto the grid with no back story whatsoever (like tariq).

I thought I would go back and revisit my wish list for S9, to see if Kudos took any notice of old TL.

1) More desk and field officers (I know its been said already.)
Yes I think we did ok there.
2) Ruth to get something wrong once in a while.
No, once again she's always right.
3) More action Harry like series 6/7. We miss him out there!
Ha! Yes loads of Harry action. Loved it.
4) Damian Lewis to guest star in an episode (will keep me and lwhite53 happy anyway.)
Still hoping.
5) More scenes in Freemasons Hall.
More than S8, so will give Kudos that one.
6) Reduced number of close up shots and shooting through glass. Just film normally! We don't mind, really we dont.
Very much improved. Those sort of scenes were used very selectively.
7) Real Americans if we have to have them.
I don't think they were, but they did ok.
8) Continued filming in London. Its the blinking capital!
Yes.
9) Information as to the whereabouts of Scarlet and Fidget.
Where the hell are they.
10) More smiles and jokes. Its been a bit of a sad year for section D.
Yes, much improved.
11) Harry and Ruth waking up together (not in a lockdown situation.)
*sighs* Come on Kudos, give the pair a break.
12) Harry to have the top two buttons of his white shirt open all through the series.
*sighs again* I loved the few scenes we had. Again much better than S8.

All in all, I think Kudos did pay attention.
