And Price/Sarah Caulfield are Irish - WTF??? Do they think that the English can't tell the difference between an Irish and an American accent?!?!

stil not half as bad as Brad Pitt trying to speak Irish... or almost any other American actor..
I could understand the actors' union hesitation about hiring from across the pond but surely it would lend a more authentic touch (since apparently we can't do without CIA involment Smile)
Going completely off topic here but I am going to have to pull you up TygerBright on Brad Pitt's Irish accent. If you mean his accent in Lock Stock (or the follow up), his accent is meant to be Irish Gypsy. Where I live in the UK, characters like this turn up on my doorstep offering to tarmac my drive on a regular basis. He is spot on with this accent and particularly impressive as he is an American attempting this.

RE: Episode 8 Discussion
Trouble is....gold commander should not be at the scene.......he/she should be at a different location....having an overview of everything and a more strategic role......

Nit-picking aside....what a brilliant episode......a fitting climax!

How long do we have to wait now?

I agree about the gold commander usually being off site, and also with JHyde's thought that sending Harry out of the Grid gave them a chance to show Ruth in distress over his leaving. She's shown more concern for him in this episode than we've seen in quite a while!

Thus let me live, unheard, unknown;
Thus unlamented let me dye;
Steal from the world, and not a stone
Tell where I lye.

RE: Episode 8 Discussion
Wow! Even though this thread hasn't been active for awhile, I just have to say how much I enjoyed this episode. I was on the edge of my seat, biting my nails for the last five minutes or so.

I've only seen seasons 7 & 8 so far and was not a fan of Ros at the beginning and now I love her so much!!!! I really hope she and the HS somehow survive. Add me to those who enjoyed their flirting, or his flirting w/ her.

Really love the banter between Ros & Lucas. I think they might be my favourite pair.

Lucas: Can't think of why Nightingale haven't tried to recruit you.
Ros: It's been gnawing at me, as well.

Lucas: Come on, then, Ros, small talk me a little.
Ros: Okay, em, my perfume is from the anal glands of a cat. I read that in the paper this morning.
Lucas: It's actually the perennial gland of the civet. And not any more because they synthesize it.

Don't really have anything else to say except I uber-love this show and I can't wait for Season 9!

Series 9 Spoiler: show
We know Ros snuffed it at the end of this episode, but what about the home secretary? Also, the send offs Ros + Jo had in Series 8 were perfunctory.
Why do the men have such spectacular 'byes' + the women get shunted off? Am I missing the point? Is my opinion off the mark? I'm open to criticism.

That's not an unreasonable point, Jonnobaas. It might be worth you starting a thread in the general discussion sub forum about characters' exits and whether they fitted right.

RE: Episode 8 Discussion
Discovering MI 5 in the states just a few months ago. Watched seasons 1-4 and then skipped around. Just finished #8 2 days ago and I can't believe Roz couldn't drag the HS down some steps. She was ripped! Not too believable, but it is tv and spooks, so folks have to die. Who else in the Mountain Time Zone is watching?

At the risk of going slightly off-topic (apologies if this is inappropriate mods!), I think Ros actually had a very befitting death. She went quietly, accepting her death whilst doing the job she loved. It wasn't 'spectacular', or even that shocking... but I think it was suitable in terms of her character. It kind of tied up the 'betrayal' plot she had been running with for so long, as she proved herself loyal to the job and her country until the very end. The fact that she never really wanted to reveal much emotion also made her death more believable - Ros wasn't a women who ever really made a fuss. She revealed her lack of family, friends or lovers, and that her only real 'friendships' were within her workplace. It's very sad that she was such a lonely character, but at least she didn't die alone.

Gnothi Seauton.

I agree, Byatil. Ros' death was a great write out. One of the best.

RE: Episode 8 Discussion
I liked Ros's exit because she had time to explain her reasons for not fearing death, and died trying to save another.

Lucas 8.4: It's all about trust, isn't Harry ?.
