RE: Torchwood
Does this mean that we will finally get a new series of Torchwood, it has been away for far too long.

(14-05-2010 01:39 PM)HellsBells Wrote:  Yes, I think the storyline was incredible for Children of Earth, but it wasn't what I expected from Torchwood. With Torchwood I expect a few crazy aliens running around Earth being chased by the team, basically nonsense but highly entertaining. But Children of Earth was very serious and thought-provoking and frying the child at the end was disturbing.

There's the odd episode that doesn't fit the expected, for example the one where they run into cannibals in the wilds of Wales (no not the Welsh rugby team).

Also, a few more vids here.

To confirm: they're using the American date order, so it's the 8th of July not 7th August.

RE: Torchwood
Series 4.1 Spoiler: show
I thought the opener was wonderful. It LOOKS different, production wise, and certainly feels different, much more like a film. Bharat Nalluri is a very stylish director and he doesn't disappoint here.

It's 4 minutes until Gwen turns up, a full 20 until Jack does and they're not reunited until the dying moments of the episode. They are both changed, Gwen more subtly so, but Jack - Jack is palpably different, and I would expect nothing else after COE.

In a lot of ways Jack covering his tracks rings very true of 'Everything Changes', when the whole shebang kicked off. I think Gwen's dad being in hospital is a wonderful grounding point for the show, as Gwen has always been our entry point to this world. I hope this is revisited.

And is Jack really mortal once more? Great plot point. Perhaps this is how Jack starts his true evolution into the Face of Boe.

Little spooked out by the fact that Gwen uses a bazooka in those last few minutes - reminds me an awful lot of a season 2 episode of Buffy. But given what a big fan of Buffy Russell is, I wouldn't be surprised if it were a deliberate homage.

It's almost 2 years to the day that Torchwood was last on the air. How we've missed you.

RE: Torchwood
The difference between the versions is apparently a matter of a few seconds. That's what Jane Espenson (one of the writers) tweeted.

The new season actually has a very Spooks like feel to it, at least episodes 2 and 3.
