If someone had told me 10 weeks ago that Guy would have a better story arc and a more consistent characterization than Lucas, or that Guy might actually be the better man, or that I could watch Robin Hood to get the sour taste of Spooks out of my mouth, I wouldn't have believed you.

Bitter? Me? Not at all.

Currently listening to 'Lords of the North', 12 hours of Richard reading to me. Heaven............

Well, the first season was a bit interesting (especially with the terrible extensions!). But once you get into it, it builds up, and the second & third seasons are much better.

Thanks KitKat, I'll have to find the time to watch it. Right now it sounds more plausible than Spooks!

Sad indeed! But you must admit that he plays the bad boy really, really, really well, no?
I am shallow too, BoHenley Wink
I'm also wondering what he would have to say or what his thoughts are on the whole Lucas/John/Vaughn/Maya mess, and on what our, heated to say the least, reactions to it, are.

It's "a struggle for heaven and earth. Where there is one law: fight or die. And one rule: resist or serve."

That would be really interesting Belle. Now RA can talk openly about series 9, it would be great to hear what he thinks. Maybe he thought it was brilliant???

RE: Richard Armitage
I can't believe he would think of it as brilliant!!!!! He strikes me as a rather intelligent person, so he must have seen all the plotholes and misuse or underuse of characters, too! Or maybe he doesn't watch spooks?(I don't know, does anyone of the cast actually watch the series?) I do find it strange that we've heard no one of the cast yet, or have i missed something?

RE: Richard Armitage
A lot of actors don't actually watch their own show, so it's likely that Richard doesn't watch the episodes he has done, but he did watch it before he came onto Series 7 to catch up on how things work on Spooks and the characters.

As for his opinions of Series 9, Richard and most of the cast are very nice humble people so I doubt that they will really say Series 9 was completely terrible, and even if they are disappointed, they will say it in the nicest way that you wouldn't even think they were insulting it. He may be free to talk about Spooks, but he's not gonna want to say bad things either. I'm sure in some of his other interviews he had already known how the storylines were ending towards, he did say that he kind of froze for a few seconds when he found out who Lucas really was and he was surprised, he did say that the writers owe him a brilliant exit, but I don't think we'll ever really find out what he personally really thought of this storyline. Actors like Richard tend to be very neutral and be nice about things and they won't ever really say their true feelings.

The cast hadn't really talked much about Series 9, the only other one I've heard other than Richard is Peter's interview on the radio right before the final episode aired. But like I said, most of these actors are not gonna all angry on this storyline like us the fans do.

Oh, okay!
So maybe RA doesn't know either if he's dead or not, and wants to come back for season 10! ( the straws keep coming Wink)
I know most of the actors don't want to see themselves on the screen and that they don't want to 'go mad' on a 'not so good' storyline, but, indeed, it would be intresting to know what their thoughts are, if they're happy or not with the course the story takes, or if they even have anything to say in terms of scriptwriting or storylines or so?
In RA's case, I think it's part of his charme that he's humble and down to earth!

Peter Firth did say that each script goes through a lot of revisions, sometimes they get revised scenes on the day they film. So I don't think the actors have that much say in storylines or script-writing, but ultimately, they are the ones portraying the character so they do at least dictate how the feelings and actings are portrayed.

But these scripts usually a put out very fast with their tight schedule. Two episodes of Spooks is basically like working for a feature film. It's like what they say about 24 as well, especially worse with 24 because they have to keep the continuity very tight from hour to hour and it's basically like they are making 12 feature films where it is very easy for the writers to write themselves into a corner.

That's probably what happened with Spooks, just like with 24, the writers ran with an idea, painted themselves into a corner, and instead of trying a clever way of getting out with more effort, due to time constraints and probably laziness, they took the easy way out.

RE: Richard Armitage
Well Kudos should rehire the former scriptwriters of spooks, because there is really no excuse for laziness in a fast show! Wink
Ok, getting of topic, here, I will dwell a little more on RA instead, otherwise I will never get over the bad, bad writing!
(not saying I could do it better, i'm not a writer, on the other hand, if I think about it...Wink)

RE: Richard Armitage
Kudos should hire ME! I LOVE screen-writing! And I would NEVER let a character be destroyed in a storyline like that! I research and work out plausible storylines for days before I even start writing, even for my Spooks fanfic I had to make sure that everything for the characters were true to who they were. If I can take a effort of giving my readers a working, plausible, and enjoyable story, I see no reason why the writers of Spooks can't!

As for RA, I just saw that Santander ad, when his voice came on it nearly gave me a heart-attack! LOL! Big Grin

Me wonders if he sings, because I think his voice would be quiet nice for singing! Maybe lullabies! Wink
