Noooo! Please spare us the cliched love triangle... It is just lazy writing if that is the only way to create tension in a relationship.

Cliched love triangle?

Please, if what's going on with HR now isn't a cliche, I don't know what is.

I disagree. Ruth has been grieving after George, who was killed because of his involvement with Ruth in her new life and, indirectly, because of Harry. Keeping them apart in season 8 was appropriate.

If they mess around much longer I might be inclined to agree, but for now it's OK.

RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth Strike Back
If you mean in the sense that they are stringing out them getting together, then yes. But I don't think the issues holding them apart is cliched - haven't seen that many stories where one party indirectly caused the death of the other's partner, and the loss of probably her only chance to be a mother... Tongue

I just don't think it'll be realistic to suddenly have Harry interested in another woman. He had plenty of time to do so after Ruth left, but never did. So why would he do it now that he actually has a chance with Ruth?

The first two episodes maybe.. but after a while it seemed to dive in the direction of "teetering office romance", very cliched.

@Silktie - Never underestimate the ability of men to fancy people at the wrong time.

Hee! Too true. But please don't give the writers any ideas, Nitrus.

RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth Strike Back
Why do I have the feeling that Nitrus is trying to wind us all up. How can you say Ruth was thrown in just for her scenes with Harry? Like she had no other scenes during the last series and didnt contribute to any of the operations !!

Ruth was always a little outside the main clique and why should it be any different now.

I also dont agree with the "teetering office romance" line. This is so much more than that. Harry was prepared to spend 20 years in prison to save Ruth and vice versa. I would call it a great love story, not a teetering office romance. That sounds like something which happens to 20yrs olds who want a bit of a sexual fling.

But we're having fun arguing with him, even if he is just winding us up. Big Grin

You have a good argument, Tea Lady.

If Harry suddenly gets another love interest, I'll probably be banned from this forum, as I'll complain loudly and bitterly about the nonsensicality of it without end.

RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth Strike Back
I'm not trying to wind you up. This is purely my opinion.

It used to be great love story, it really did. But in Series 8, it very much came across as a teetering office romance, that's how I feel about most of Series 8 concerning HR.

I can say that Ruth was thrown in for scenes with Harry because for most of the time she was, back in days of old she would contribute a lot more to operations, and we saw more of Ruth's own live.. correct me if I'm wrong but I don't recall any scenes of Ruth at her house or anything like that.

Her role in Series 8 seemed to be very centered around Harry.
