New Doctor Who Discussion

RE: New Doctor Who Discussion
Yeah, typical Chibnall script. He likes the metaphors for broader social statements, he does and this is good'un.

God, that is so creepy, pulling people down into the earth.

I love the Doctor jumping up and down on the Earth and saying it feels funny. I also laughed at the idea of him having a day like this 'every other day', that was great.

How funny is it that the Doctor keeps a catapult in his pocket? How great is the new sonic screwdriver? And how short can Karen Gillan's shorts go?

I love Meera Syal and although I wish this wasn't a two parter I am so glad she'll be back for another episode. Also the second time we've had a Chaudry on Doctor Who!

Don't be ragging on KG's legs Tongue

Not a big fan of this episode, the concept was good but there were a lot of horrible cliches and I found a lot of similarities with previous series' episodes.

Next week looks good though, I like a bit of war in Doctor Who.

Going back a bit, but I loved the episode with the Dream Lord, it was so clever, even though I spent the entire time watching it and trying to work out where I'd seen Toby Jones before (Dobby in Harry Potter! Oh, and St Trinians).

Hmm... not convinced about next week. The week after looks quite interesting though,
Spoiler: show
with Vincent Van Gogh. It's interesting that they're now bringing mental illness into a childrens program, but I think it's a good idea, if they portray it correctly. And after that, JAMES CORDEN!

I don't really like Meera Syal, but that's purely because I've allowed myself to be prejudiced against her (I read an interview with her, and she just annoyed me. She was been relegated to the list of people I have formed illogical opinions of, which consists of the evil one who shall soon join Spooks (aka Sophia Myles), Freema Agyeman, and Jessica Hynes.

Does anyone get Doctor Who Magazine (or is it just me?) There's a hilarious letter in it complaining about the Graham Norton appearance, which is truly a work of pure genius (in my humble opinion - this should explain my status on the status thread Wink)

DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered.

RE: New Doctor Who Discussion
I've only just watched this weeks episode. I also loved the idea of having a catapult in the Doctor's pocket, he always seems to have odd things in his pockets.
Matt Smith does the "Am I crazy" scenes so well, he is very believable as the Doctor. We could all do with less of Amy Ponds legs !

RE: New Doctor Who Discussion
Lovely new episode of DW tonight. Loved Amy and Nasreen negotiating for the humans as "the best of humanity", MS was brilliant as ever, showing a complete range of emotions as the Doctor. The ending was good as poor Rory was dispatched with minimum fuss, with only the Doctor remembering him. Loved MS's expression at the end when he held up the bit of the Tardis he had taken from the crack. Next weeks episode with Van Gogh looks very good.

I did not expect Rory to go! I thought he was in it for the whole series!!! (Rather ironically this evening, before I watched Doctor Who I was moaning about how no one of importance ever dies mid series in Doctor Who. How wrong I was).

I know what you mean, almh. I was reading an interview with Arthur Darvill, who plays Rory, in which he talked about how enjoyable DW is and how he's looking forward to expanding the role. Maybe when "the pandorica opens" he'll come back from the dead.

Love it, loved it. Utterly tragic about Rory (we were right, it's very different from Mickey) and I love the whole bit about memory, very Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. If I were Amy, I would much rather not remember at all.

Next week looks like great fun and it's the one with Bill Nighy.

Love the shrapnel. So excited! Four episodes to go!

RE: New Doctor Who Discussion
Lovely, beautiful episode tonight with Van Gogh. Loved Amy and Vincent together, they would have had very ginger babies Tongue Tony Curran who plays Van Gogh was brilliant and I liked how he kept his scottish accent and he asks Amy if she's from Holland too Smile Loved the museum scene with Van Gogh realising how important he is in the history of art, brilliant scene with him and Bill Nighy. Loved the Starry Night scene as well Yahoo

The only downer was the monster. I felt it was tacked on, there was no real threat from it but it did make MS have a good time fighting invisible monsters Big Grin Mentions of Rory throughout so his demise may not be permanent.

Can't believe there are only three more episodes to go Sad
