[spoilers] Adam or Tom?

RE: Adam or Tom?
I don't think Adam was arrogant. Confident? Yes. Arrogant? No.

I tend to think Tom, especially in Series 2, really let his emotions and his hopeless romanticism get in the way of being an effective leader. He was always short with the team and really lost sight of the importance of team rapport.

RE: Adam or Tom?
I think there is a thin line between confidence and arrogance Tongue ( I should know I often cross it :/ )

Not that I didn't love Adam I just thought Tom was more believable as a character.. probably because of his emotions and hopeless romanticism LOL

RE: Adam or Tom?
I thought Adam came across a little too "I'm gorgeous so believe me" undercover a lot.

I'm really trying to come up with a good explanation for my choice here but i fear it will be a while in the making.

RE: Adam or Tom?
Tom became involved with two of the most attractive women in the series. Ellie Simm and Christine Dale. However Adam gets the vote.

John

Actually mate, I'm an officer who didn't get suckered by an American con artist.

RE: Adam or Tom?
I loved Tom because he was the first chief of section D and had to deal with having a personal life (which is, as we understand as the series develop, impossible for anyone - except for Adam + wife... but we all know how that ends up...) Then it took me some time to like Adam, who's more invicible, kind of a US type of character (cf Kiefer Sutherland in 24). To sum up: Tom more real, Adam more indesctructible but less real...

I'm always very disappointed when a character disappears (often by sudden death Wink in the series and resent the "replacement" for some time, and when I finally get to love them (ie Adam, post Tom), they end up... dead.
Spoiler: show
I'm trying to cope with Ros not coming back but I reckon it's going to take me at least a few months to accept it.

RE: Adam or Tom?
I agree with you, Saratita, Tom seemed far more real. The fact he tried to have a personal life made him seem more 'ordinary'. Adam just seemed too perfect to me - intelligent, great leader, beautiful wife, wonderful son. I guess I prefer my heroes a little more vulnerable.
Adam was an excellent leader but I don't think I would want to work for him !

RE: Adam or Tom?
Nope Age1021!!! Not at the moment, we could start one tho!!!

Adam for me I think, but it is a close call!!

Lucas North: Your situation is more precarious than you realize, Connie, so stop pressing buttons and give us something.
Connie James: Threats don't work with a person who has nothing to lose.
Lucas North: Oh, you're too ingenious to think that I'm threatening you. I'm offering you a simple choice: help us or don't. I'll leave you to compute the implication.Cool

Yep, same here. Since I had gone about this retro-watching a bit AOT (starting with 8, then 7, then 6) I "met" Adam before Tom and while I liked him well enough he could never hold a candle to Lucas (in my book.. and that's nothing at all to do with the preference in actors). But now that I have all seasons and am going about it proper, I watched the whole series 1 and liked Tom from the very beginning. Looking foward to character development in series 2 (and I heard Adam's better before series 6 so I'm looking forward to first "meeting" him.. one of these "what-spook-are-you" quizzes described him as "level-headed".. chucking chairs around?!?)
If Tom really was mentored by Lucas I can actually see the two of them being as close to friends as spooks can be.. I imagine the "old" Lucas could have been somewhat like Tom.

So Adam/Tom choice - Tom all the time. Of course, if you bring in Lucas it's a no-brainer Tongue
