First 3 seasons
One of the many things I liked about early spooks was that all three characters interacted like a team. Yes, maybe tom had more screen time, but you could feel that it was a team. As the show progressed, you see less of that. For example, when ros came, it was the Adam and Ros show. Zaf and Jo were pushed to the background even though they did have some memorable screen time. I guess the show was trying to go in a new direction, but it would have been nice to see the entire team be as cohesive as tom, danny and zoe.

RE: First 3 seasons
I know what your'e saying Smile I thought personally that series 5 was probably the best series for them all equally..in terms of story lines. Spooks has progressed so much since series one, infact I think Harry didnt really do or say that much in series One. I found him almost wooden and stuffy to some degree. The banter between Zoe, Tom and Danny was a fantastic quality. By the time series 2 came along I was hooked well and truly. They had really made spooks compulsive viewing Smile I wish in some respects Zaf had got more of a central story line. Aside from when he was kidnapped at the end. I also really wish they had not bumped him off! so soon, or have they? Smile I loved watching him and Adam together.

I am inclined to agree with you about the "Adam & Ros" show.. I too felt that Jo & Zaf were pushed to the back....

But then again, Adam & Ros was a very deep storyline that needed screentime to fully develop.

RE: First 3 seasons
Another thing about the first three seasons I liked was they showed how MI5 protected the whole of the UK, not just the capital. In 1.1 we had bombs going off in Liverpool and in 2.2 we had suicide bombers in Birmingham. Now all threats are concentrated around London.

That is something I noticed as well, Aria. Maybe MI5 now have regional offices to deal with other parts of the UK.

i think that and not meaning to sound harsh that jo and zaf werent as interesting as charactors as Adam and ros. but i can see where the OP is comming from. i do think that there are some changes that have been for the better but of course when the orignal cast members all left ny the end of s3 bar harry it was going to change

i don't think the show let jo and zaf be interesting... jo was introduced in a really awesome, out of the blue kind of way, but then i don't think we got to see that again until series 8.

Zaf, on the other hand, didn't have a backstory into Spooks. He just appeared on the grid on some superficial pretext and never really developed. However, it was interesting seeing him infiltrate terrorism cells etc, but there was only so many times that could be done.

I'm definitely keen for some real interaction between the junior field officers.

RE: First 3 seasons
he was there giving intelligence on the cell group that had kidnapped fiona and danny. he was a mate of adams, but i'm not 100% sure that he came specifically because of adam...

RE: First 3 seasons
He was dragged in for that one specific threat (the SARIN threat that was all a hoax anyway, to get Fiona and Danny to what they thought was a logistical safe house) and then I think because Danny died he hung around. Then Adam drafted him in permanently at the end of 4.2.

We are rather drifting off the point here though. If you want to talk Zaf and Jo, you might be better off discussing them in their respective character/actor threads.
