[SPOILER] - A "lucas" question

RE: [SPOILER] - A "lucas" question
If Lucas is a traitor, then it will completely destroy the character that was built up in series 7 and 8. This would be completely pointless, and would probably annoy a fair few people (myself included).

RE: [SPOILER] - A "lucas" question
After what RA has told us in the press office interview I would expect "Vaughn" to be responsible if Lucas gets into trouble in the course of this series and is accused of being a traitor. He may well be involved in the storyline that run through series nine (and be the main baddie?) and Lucas may well hide from MI5 that he is somehow connected to this person. But if the baddie is someone else Lucas can come out of it innocent, even as the hero (though not necessarily alive).

RE: [SPOILER] - A "lucas" question
I have a feeling that the documents & other stuff from the past Vaughn throws at him will
a) show us how and why he became a spy (maybe a sleeper / double-agent planted at the heart of 5 but not by the Russians? Who's that friend with blood on his hands?) and
b) be used (through the connection with Maya, and who knows, his family?) to force him to betray Harry and the service. Or at least pretend to (triple agent?) and in the cliff-hanger he'll disappear under as mysterious circumstances as he did from Maya when they were at Uni.
Or he'll sacrifice his life to defend the realm (and 5, and Harry, and Maya) and die a hero. After making us believe for 7 episodes that he has been turned.
I'd prefer the "rides off into the sunset with a chance to return" version, obviously. And just as obviously would not at at all object to a few.. tasty pre-Russia, sans-shirt scenes Big Grin
Yep, shallow, me.
Can't wait.

That's what I think. That Vaugh (or his organisation) used him to infiltrate MI5 and now want to activate him. Or his dealings with Vaughn brought him into contact with MI5 and Vaughn has information that could compromise Lucas and uses them to blackmail him.

I would hope that he stays loyal to MI5 but may try to solve the problem single-handedly (both would be typical for Lucas) and that may involve triple-agent activity. And that the viewer actually witnesses his dealings with Vaughn and knows he is loyal while MI5 may believe he is not.

or maybe he'll fool us all and all the while we think we know he's not who we're supposed to think he is but he then turns out to be exactly that.
Confused? LOL
me too.
Have I mentioned that I CAN'T WAIT?!?!?! Wink

That sounds rather good and interesting!
I can't imagine Lucas betraying MI5 (unless it turns out that MI5 did something really terrible e.g. to someone close to him, but that would make them the bad guys and that's very unlikely), but he may be forced to act as if he did. And as he did try to sort things out on his own without telling anybody (e.g. in 7.2) that would be very much in keeping with his character. But if this should be the case I sincerely hope he doesn't get killed by MI5 before they find out that he has always been loyal.
