zzExclamation Series 9 Spoiler Usage
Before Series 9 hits I feel I should clarify exactly when you need spoilers and how to use them.

Spoiler tags are to be used like this:

Code:
[spoiler=9]harry will grow a beard[/spoiler]

The above format makes sure people know it's a series 9 spoiler. You MUST use the above format or you will be warned.

ANY information about an episode which hasn't aired on BBC1 MUST have spoiler tags. Regardless of whether the thread has the [spoilers] prefix. If you do not, you will be warned.

If you post info about episode 2 in the episode 1 thread, even after it has aired, you MUST use spoiler tags, again even if it has the spoilers prefix. The same applies for info about episode 3 in the episode 2 thread and so on and so forth. If you do not, you will be warned. This rule only applies while Series 9 is still airing, to help protect people from spoilers who use streams or downloads which can take a while to get the episode out. So for example, if episode 6 hasn't aired, info about episode 3 must use spoiler tags when being posted in the episode 2 thread. I hope I've explained that well, it can take some time to get your head around.

After Series 9 has fully aired, the above rule won't apply anymore.

If an episode discussion thread has a spoilers prefix, then the prefix only applies to spoilers for THAT particular episode. Any other spoilers MUST use spoiler tags as discussed above.

We take a hard stance on spoilers and will not be lenient. So please be considerate when posting spoilers and put yourself in the shoes of someone who doesn't want to know any spoilers. I don't want any SF member to be upset because someone selfishly didn't think before posting and didn't use spoiler tags.

Also, please use the Report button at the bottom of every post to help us deal with any incidents faster.

Please reply to this thread with any questions you have about Series 9 spoilers.

RE: Series 9 Spoiler Usage
Holy Tap Dancing Jesus! We're like a pack of rabid dogs out there!

I am going to have to avoid everything that has a spoiler tag on it, aren't I? I have always told my husband that I may know what happens but I don't know how it happens. Since I am in the US and 7 years late for the party, I'm used to spoilers, but this is ridiculous!

Specifically as it pertains to unaired series/episodes, would it be possible extend the spoiler tags to cover individual commentary and analysis of articles as well?

For instance, something like this...

Series 9 Spoiler: show
harry will grow a beard
I hope Ruth likes facial hair!

...kind of gives it away! Speculation is speculation but restating what an article gives away in another way is still a spoiler. Wink

How the hell are we expected to police that as well? Be reasonable.

I can do that. I do not wish to put extra stress on any of you.

My advice is: Rather err on the side of caution, guys. If you're not sure, stick it under the spoiler tags anyway. Let's be considerate to those who have the willpower to remain unspoilered. I, for one, admire their fortitude greatly, as I have tried on occasion, but always failed miserably. Tongue

RE: Series 9 Spoiler Usage
This is just a test for me to see if I can use spoiler tags successfully. Last time it all showed up including the square brackets.

Series 9 Spoiler: show
I wonder if the Popemobile still looks like a double decker mini metro

I am a bit scared to post in case it goes wrong and need to get sorted for next week!
Yay! I CAN do spoilers. The comments random, I don't think the Pope features in S9.
