Someone pointed out, and I think it is true, that Beth is a great replacement for Jo. If you expect her to be Ros, you will be disappointed.

Jo can never be replaced :-(

zzQuestion Harry on dangerous ground
Think Harry is on dangerous ground going against the Home Secretary's wishes and then deceiving him. But what an interesting fix up to deceive the HS and the Russian ambassador - did Aziz come back to life to fake the killing of Viktor (so he's not dead as femaleBertieWooster suggests)? Was the scene filmed before Aziz was shot by Viktor or was an Aziz look-a-like used?

Think the HS has an inkling somthing is amiss, also Porton Down must realise sooner or later that they have the real sample (or do they?).

Given what Porton Down is and the kind of research and development they do, I would think they would know very well what they have. It would most certainly not be the only highly controversial and dangerous substance in their secure storage. I *think* the implication was that it would be stored? I could be wrong about that one.

But you bring up a good point - no one knows about it but Harry, Ruth, the Doctor and, my guess, Porton Down. I guess Harry called in a favor?

We know they don't trust each other and have something to hide in their past. I loved the way they connect with their eyes....way more sexy vibes than with Maya.

I'm with you, but at the same time I'm hoping for a different ending from Maya--It'd be kind of boring if all we have is another season of Lucas deeply longing and being ultimately rejected in love.

Not because we might feel bad for his poor broken heart, but just because while it was fresh on Robin Hood and well done in Season 7, it was getting stale by Season 8 and by now it's just "same old same old" with this guy.

I really hope we see something new with this relationship, otherwise why bring it in again--RA does "brokenhearted" nicely, but enough's enough already!

RE: Series 9 Episode 3 discussion
Skully has a very insightful post on the Spooks Fan Blog about the contrast between Lucas and Harry's "relationships" in 9.3 specifically, but I think it applies in a broader sense. Lucas' are VERY physical; Harry's is not physical AT ALL. Despite what either one of them may or may not actually want their relationship to be. I think the creators may simply be attempting to compare and contrast this point: two men who are very similar in personality (IMO, of course) at different times in their professional and personal lives.

As much as I like and respect SCJ's work as a Director, he has stated that he didn't fully understand the point of the Maya plot device. The HR moments clearly got a lot of care and feeding and are beautifully executed. The Lucas/Maya scenes? Maybe not so much. Despite good acting. And except visually. I love that shot of Maya on the phone with Lucas with the stairs behind her. One of the many that are just visually stunning and with great composition.

After finding out about all the deception, when Harry told the doctor, I felt that could also be a lie.

Aside from that, if someone else went looking for it, they would start with the doctor again. Why give him the information? Losing his daughter may also have challenged his integrity.

Now I'm thinking, please let's not spend the season protecting and chasing the vial of poison.

Rooftop scene:
Beth and Dmitri sneak up and disarm Lucas, cuff him and lead him away.
Lucas screams, "No Harry please, I'd rather die!"

Harry: "We're sending you to rehab ................. in Texas."

No, I don't think they will deal with this Paroxocybin in forthcoming episodes... I do think that what Harry told dr Kirbin in the end of the episode is true, it wouldn't have made sense otherwise, IMO. Harry wouldn't have bother to meet him to tell him a lie... Besides, the conversation between Harry and Ruth after that wouldn't make sense.

So, (DO NOT READ ON IF YOU DON'T WISH TO READ A SPOILER)

Series 9 Spoiler: show
it's a set up, Vaughan guessed how Lucas would react, and she's in on it, although perhaps as an unwitting accomplice. OR maybe she's the one who threatens Lucas at (or near) the end? Just a thought.

RE: Series 9 Episode 3 discussion
For a smart guy, Lucas is sure acting like a love sick fool. I have a hard time believing that he doesn't have a plan up his sleeve and if it is true what Spook found out.... than this could get pretty convoluted.
