RE: Series 9 Episode 5 Discussion
I'm a bit confused. What was the need for the sniper if Anna was going to bomb the president anyway? And why did he take the shot when there was no president?

I think it was a diversion, so that they could take him through the back entrance where Anna would be waiting.

But she would have been at the meeting anyway. I didn't see the necessity in a diversion.

They spend the whole episode telling us that these are "secret" talks, nobody can know the President is involved and yet the 2 delegations plus their security details stand outside a major London hotel waiting for the big black limos with the American flags!!

Yes, totally agree that that was daft. Also daft was Beth not demanding to see the work order for the CCTV camera, or checking in with base as to whether it's expected. Trouble is, I guessed that the daughter was behind it and just had to wait for everyone else to catch up.

This ep a bit better re. Harry time but there's still too much Lucas and not enough Harry in this series for my liking! Sorry RA fans...but I want more PF!!Cool

Worst bit: Harry referring to the US president as the "leader of the free world". AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!AngryAngryAngryAngry: No self-respecting Brit would ever refer to the American president as the leader of the free world, least of all someone who works alongside the CIA! Writers obviously trying to appeal to the American market. Utterly ridiculous garbage and I'm still fuming. AngryAngryAngryAngry:

"Where's Harry?"
"Moving in mysterious ways."

Wasn't Anna there in case the sniper attack failed? If the President had gone in the front, it could have succeeded. ???

Perhaps so there would be a fall guy (re JFK/Lee Harvey Oswald)

OK so Lighthouse dies in an explosion and not by sniper fire, so not very neat but at least it demonstrates supposed
intention on the part of an Islamic group to do it.

Anna might want the president dead but wouldn’t want Israel blamed for it.

But agree with Tea Lady sniper would be the first choice.

I can't say that it's not true, I mean, the American president IS often called the "leader of the free world", and technically he is, it's only natural as the US is often on the lead when it comes to this whole "free world" and "the west" thing so these phrases of "leader of the free world" gets picked up. I understand your frustration and fuming, but I can't disagree with Harry calling the American president that, even if he works with the CIA.

Yes they probably are trying to appeal to US market, but it's not utterly ridiculous, I've seen enough world leaders refer to the US president "leader of the free world", I think it was more that Harry was trying to emphasis the importance of the situation. I mean, I can see why it would be a problem, many see the American president as the leader of democracy and a free world, so if he does die on British soil, it would be destruction.

Don't fume my friend, just imagine happy thoughts, maybe Harry and his ties!Thhug

Enjoyed that ep! Very much got drawn into the story and forgot about the Lucas/John/Maya/Vaughan/Albany back story until near the end.
Beth's escape was a bit much...you mean this guy didn't think to make sure everything was cleared away...however, still love Beth.
Dimitri revealing a bit more about himself...good.
Tariq - seriously, we want to know more!!!
Ruth rocks and so do Harry's ties Wink
Lucas proved his worth as Section Chief by commanding the grid, working in the field, caring about his agents, (well maybe not so much Tariq) and then he shows up like a goofy school boy at his secret lover's place and then discovers that Maya's actual boyfriend is Vaughan (sans stroke) and turns into steely face man - OMG I love this show!

RE: Series 9 Episode 5 Discussion
This episode had me sucked in from the beginning although Anna was boring. I enjoyed Lucas in command and on top of his game. As for the last bit with Lucas/Maya/Vaughn I need to mull this over and not get all panicky like last week. Our Harry spent a great deal of time simply pursing his lips.

I do like the delectable Mr. Armitage with just a wisp of that black hair falling over his forehead swathed in all of that luscious blue.

More to come...

It will be interesting to see what happens next.
