Stop doing series but do one off specials every year or so like they started doing with Foyle and others. A two hour extravaganza every so often with Harry and Co would be fantastic.

I like this idea! I'd love to see a "Spooks Christmas Special", now that would be interesting... Wink

bahaha, shown after dr who on christmas. that's something i'd really have to see to believe.

but in all seriousness, i'm not sure if that'd work, considering the changing characters/actors are such an established part of spooks, and i honestly wouldn't be keen on having to get to know one new character on the grid, let alone a new team.

RE: Series 10 Filming & Behind the Scenes
It was highly doubtful that S10 would ever be cancelled after the BBC specifically "stated" it would be returning in 2011 at the end of the last Series. However, TV Times confirms this morning that it will be returning later this year.

I was surprised at how quickly we got confirmation of S10 - in fact didn't we more or less have almost certain confirmation of this way back when S9 first aired?

With the news that S10 will be 6 episodes (although that is not certain the evidence does strongly suggest it) it suggests to me that they have decided this will be the last one and are going to tie up a few ends.

With only a couple of months before filming will begin and no rumours of any new cast members it does look as if they are not bringing in anyone with the clout of Rupert Penry-Jones or Richard Armitage (unless we're all in for a shock and Lucas is not dead!!!) which tends to me also points towards no long term future.

I'd like to see it being left open for a return rather than a definitive ending. Perhaps, if money is the issue then skip a year and then come back. Keep the faith people!

I think they're setting Max up to be the new hot shot. I must say, I wouldn't mind Dimitri getting some more attention. We hardly know anything about him yet.

I'm with you Annie. I don't think it is all that odd if Max Brown takes over the hot shot role. He has as varied and respectable a resume as either MM or RPJ when they came into their roles.

Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet [Spooks];
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

RE: Series 10 Filming & Behind the Scenes
From people that have spoken to NW, the story is that funding was only given for 6 episodes. This is what I heard when I met NW myself. This has nothing to do with making S10 a short final series to book-end Spooks. It is purely financial. If it does though, turn out to be the last series, then the two do not appear to be linked.

If Kudos have somehow managed to stretch the budget to 8 episodes, then I worry that the quality will suffer. I am sure the powers that be in Spooks world, have come to the right decision as to what is best for auidence and cast, although you can never please everyone.

I agree that MB can carry the "action hero" role in Spooks. I don't think I had heard of MM or RPJ when they started in Spooks. "You've got to give a man a chance...to show you who he really is." Big Grin

Definitely. As long as it returns. And I wouldn't mind a "shock" ending for this series. I'd love it if Lucas walked back in...(yeah dream on Bo)

I can imagine there are a lot of BBC programmes that do not have as many viewers as Spooks so instead of shortening something that has an audience, why not shorten programmes with small amount of viewers.

P's If Lucas came back or was redeemed on the screen that would make my year, one can wish!

Also, if funding is a problem - big name established stars cost more. I also have no problem with Max Brown taking over the hot action hero role. He certainly is good looking enough for it.
