Series 8 will air in mid-October - BBC Confirm
I contacted the BBC press office about when the new series will air and received this response:
Quote:The new series is due to start in mid October. This means it will begin airing EARLIER than Series 7 did. Which was on the 27th October. If we assume that it will return to a Monday night slot, this puts the new series airing on the 12th or 19th of October. Excited much?

Woo hoo! Great news. I'm guessing 19th October, simply because the Series 7 DVD is out on 12th October and there's normally a gap between DVD released and new series. It's not long though!
