RE: The end of spooks...
I've tried to let the news of Spooks S10 being the last sink in over the weekend and wait for what I would think after a few days of contemplation.
Reading the announcement last week was not really a shock as I already expected S10 to be the last. There have just been too many indications and hints to be able to hold up much hope that it would go on. But still it's a strange feeling to have the confirmation that now we are really facing the end.

Inside I'm really torn as on the one hand I surely can understand Kudos motives to end Spooks on a high as so many of you have already pointed out.

Also reading the comments to the articles in the Guardian etc. made me realise again that there is big a amount of "normal" viewers who are not so very much devoted to this show and can accept these news and are just hoping for a few more hours of action packed spy TV.

I however am really dreading the end and although I want to watch the new episodes and I'm waiting for the official air date I also want to stretch the moment we're now in for as long as possible as this will all be over much too soon.

I'm quite sure of course that this board will not be closed down (at least not immediately) as Spooks will give us and even new fans much more things to discuss but I also know that it will be different.

I will really miss the anticipation for a new series, speculations and stories of filming etc.
What I hope for now however is an end with which we all can live with...

RE: The end of spooks...
i certainly hope the board dosnt close down;( i only dioscovered spooks a year ago but i am in the middle of a reqatch (up to the 2nd half of s5) adn there are so many moments that a re great. i think s9 wasnt as good as it could have been. spooks is never at its best when it focus's on one person only in s9 it did this to lucas tot he detriment of all others.

i hope s10 gives everyone we have grown to love (that are left) harry, dmitri, ruth, tariq, malcom ETC all get a propper send off i dont want it all to be about harry and ruth (as much as i love them both). i dont ant it to end with section D being closed either! but i trust Kudios.

RE: The end of spooks...
I was in the middle of a very wet camping holiday in North Devon when I read about this being the last series, and then I heard it on Radio Five Live in the morning. It may have been the constant drizzle, but I can't describe how depressed it made me feel.

Having got back and read the articles above, I feel a little more heartened (and of course the sun is shining!), as they tend to point to a proper conclusion for Harry and Ruth.

The article on Radio Five involved someone from Kudos, who said something along the lines of 'there will be a good surprise concerning Harry and Ruth for the dedicated fans out there'.

Now, I hate to speculate so early, but could it be that there will be a Christmas Special? Or perhaps, an extra to go in the box set?

I must be in the minority, because I would love there to be a happy ever after for Harry and Ruth. Too many other series bring a couple together only for one of them to be killed off straight away. I want Spooks to break that mould and kill off the series after a happy conclusion. Without there being anything cheesy or soap opera-ish.

RE: The end of spooks...
Camping in the rain is pretty awful.

Kudos might have read all the depressed comments of the H/R fans on the forums and Twitter, mine included, and they want to reassure us. I was too brainwashed by Spooks's previous series to expect a happy ending. It shows you not to believe every whisper on Twitter. Perhaps NW's audacious ending is that Ruth and Harry are finally getting together contrary to all expectations. That would make my day!

However, I am still wary. The good surprise might mean an H/R wedding and then disaster. I do not know whether I am hallucinating, but I vaguely remember that PF had suggested this scenario a while ago.

A "Good surpirse"?
Could that mean Harry and Ruth actually get it together? A H/R kiss perhaps?...
*Whispers* and then something bad happens Tongue
That's something that always comes back to me thinking about Harry and Ruth, especially when we hear these little bits and pieces about S10... if their relationship ever moved to the point where they get together (Or are close to getting together), disaster won't be far behind it.

Nah, I want them to get together, just not in a soap opera-ish kind of way. Them riding off into the sunset isn't very Spooksy, however them getting a happy ending doesn't mean it has to be cheesey Wink
Lets hope Kudos give them an ending that can be conclusive without killing one of them... too many times have TV shows ended like that, I agree, it would be nice to have a happy kind of ending for once Wink

I don't think you're in the minority, at least not here most probably. I also want a happy ending for Harry and Ruth, actually I wouldn't even mind if it was a little soapy and therefore quite untypical for Spooks, they just deserve some happiness.

However, I'm quite pessimistic in this regard and what may be exciting for the producers or even the actors might not be the same exciting for me.

I think I may also blame the weather a little bit for my depressed mood. Maybe I would be more optimistic if it was a glorious summer but this "almost autumn" we've had for months now is just pushing me down...Undecided
