Episode 1 Discussion

RE: Episode 1 Discussion
Is your reticence in declaring it a wonderful episode due to Harry and Ruth not falling into each others' arms? (I'm not poking fun, I'm serious.) Because that's quite reasonable. The roadblock they threw up for these guys was a HUGE one, but also very clever,

Maybe Blush not quite though, it wasn't because they weren't falling into each others arms, more because they suddenly got separated again, they got physically closer but emotionally further apart in that episode.

DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered.

RE: Episode 1 Discussion
Now that I've seen all the episodes, this one remains my favourite by some distance. It's the only episode that had real emotional impact for me. And it's not just because Harry and Ruth are my favourite characters. It's also that the stupid Sarah/Lucas thing dragged down the other episodes for me. And where in previous seasons I was really moved by other characters' fates (Danny, Fiona, Colin's deaths all brought a tear to my eye) it just didn't happen in this season, because they didn't do enough with the characters to make me care about them.

I agree with this. It also remains my favourite episode, as you say, because it still tugs at your heartstrings after repeated viewings.

I agree with you girls, this episode was heartbreaking, I liked it, really moving.

A little sadistic I know, but I liked that, it would have been too marvellous to fall into each others arms, not very Spooks style. And it was, afterwards, a way of realising both of them needs the other. I like this relationship going little by little and with some obstacles in the middle...

Having said, if they haven't kissed by the end of episode 3 of the hoped for ninth season, I will be bellowing at the ref (to continue my rugby metaphor).

OK, I'm with you in that one, I meant slow but not annoying slow!! Tongue

And back to episode 1, I think it was the only episode that make me cry, well, the 3rd one too.

RE: Episode 1 Discussion
For some reason, whilst watching episode 1 I felt cold for no reason. Maybe it was because it was so emotional... or alternatively, it was just a cold night, I don't know. But I sat through most of it shivering.

RE: Episode 1 Discussion
Maybe this was already mentioned. If it was then I apologize, but

Series 8 Spoiler: show
the man who plays Ruth's "husband" in this episode, isn't he the same guy that Anna stabs in the study to hide the fact that she was spying on Darius Bakshi in Series 6?

FYI I hope the spoiler thing worked because I did use it.....Confused
