RE: Episode 1 Discussion
I rewatched this episode last night for the first time in about five weeks and it doesn't lose its intensity. I swear the sunshine in "Greece" cuts me like a knife, and her smile while Ruth's talking to George.....God, it breaks my heart. And because you know what's coming, the anticipation makes me sob a bit. Let alone when you get to "you know nothing about compassion."

And just NW'S face when she's walking toward the phonebox - unbelievable. You can actually see her weighted down just being back in London.

Depending on what the finale is like, this may still be my favourite episode of the year. Fantastic though some of the later ones were.

RE: Episode 1 Discussion
It was one of the most intense episodes of Spooks for me; although I knew Ruth was coming back (I wish I hadn't known) it was a very moving episode, PF and NW played their characters amazingly, it was beautiful to watch them, you can feel their pain and their feelings just looking at their faces...
I'm not sure if I'm recovered from this episode yet Tongue

It's still very hard to watch. I think I've said it already, but I hope they hugged each other at the end of that day, it must have been sad Sad

I'm glad I knew she was coming back. It gave me something to get really excited about.

Yes, but I was excited anyway, so... but it doesm't matter anymore, even knowing, when Ruth appeared I screamed a bit Tongue Ruth is my favorite character (Harry too Smile) so it was really hard watch them both in that situation...

RE: Episode 1 Discussion
This is my favourite episode of series 8 I think (obviously I have not seen this evenings yet.) I can watch it again and again and it still pulls at my heart. Those two scenes. The first when Ruth walks in and Harry sees her for the first time. Emotion on the great mans face. And second when she calls him a heartless bastard. It sounds like he has to grit his teeth to stop his face showing too much hurt. I found myself shouting at Malcolm not to go in to Harry's office at the end as I suspected what he was going to do. PF and NW were great in this.

There are some episodes I can watch again and again without getting board at all. This is one of those episodes. Others for me are 7.8, 5.5, the Diana one and the EERIE one.

8.1 is hard to watch but worth the trouble. I honestly think it will stand out in the Spooks canon over time.

RE: Episode 1 Discussion
Maybe... maybe. I can see why it would... It is very bold and hard-hitting, so I guess it will.
