How could Spooks Forum improve?

RE: How could Spooks Forum improve?
The 'View Today's Posts' page shows all new posts in the last 24 hours and highlights the ones you haven't read yet.

For periods longer than that, you'll have to rely on the [s] indicators on the main page, go into each forum and the threads with new posts that you haven't read will be in bold.

I'm not prepared to make changes to our forum software right now, there is a new version coming out soon which would render any changes I make now, useless.

Ooh, I don't think I've seen those [s] indicators before - is that fairly new?

They were added while you were away. They indicate sections of the forum which contain posts that you haven't read, it's unique to each person.

RE: How could Spooks Forum improve?
I appreciate I've only been a subscriber to SF for just a few days but I think that apart from the BBC Spooks program itself, the other most interesting thing about the forum are the members themselves. Unfortunately it's difficult if not impossible at present to find members with similar interests. I'd therefore respectfully like to suggest that you make it obligatory for all members to provide details about the following:

1.2 Nationality
1.3 Age
1.4 Present country of residence
1.5 Gender
1.6 Bio [Real or Fictious but state which]

Additionally include non-obligatory fields such as:
1.7 Hobbies/Interests
1.8 Profession/Occupation

Finally include a sort function within the membership list page so that members can find other members with similar interests.

"With allies like the Americans, who needs enemies!":thud:
"You can always count on Americans to do the right thing, after they've tried everything else." Sir Winston Churchill
"Thinking is the most unhealthy thing in the world, people die of it. Fortunately, in England, thought is not catching. Our splendid physique as a people is entirely due to our national stupidity." Oscar Wilde

RE: How could Spooks Forum improve?
I'm fundamentally against forcing anyone to divulge any personal information which is not necessary for them to be a member.

The purpose of this forum is not to farm personal information, if a member is willing to include that information in their profile, that's their decision and many have done so already.
