RE: The Grand Spooks Tour 2010
It's not so bad if it goes to Birmingham and takes the important exteriors in London. Then there really will be panic on the streets of London, panic on the streets of Birmingham.

Yes, but what are they going to do for all the HR scenes (in my mind, the important ones! Tongue) I don't think it would be quite as romantic sitting by the edge of the reservoir compared to the Thames...

DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered.

RE: The Grand Spooks Tour 2010
They'll do what they did with the West Wing, where the bulk of it is filmed in another city, but the exteriors are done where the show is set. Think How Doctor Who does it for episodes set in London. They don't necessarily film everything in London, just the big, Londonish shots.

And I'll display my lack of geographical knowledge by saying that Birmingham really isn't that far away from London anyway. You're all spoiled over there, expecting everything to be close to each other!

I think they will do what JHyde says (and hope), some scenes in London, and of course the HR ones Tongue

But I would be so happy if I could go to the Grid as we were "planning"...

I'm planning to go to London, to be honest, it's in my mind, I don't mind when...

At least for London it's close enough for me to make a day trip of it and I can go by myself, whereas Birmingham I have to go with my parents :rants on and on for ages:

I'm not sure even Spooks could make me want to go to Birmingham !! The thought of Harry and Ruth house hunting together in Aston or West Brom, sends a shudder down my spine.

Hey, what's wrong with Birmingham Undecided Not everything should happen in London... Birmingham is the second city after all! I love Birmingham, I would actually be able to go see filming if it was there!!

Yes, but it's Birmingham. It's far away (for me - I realise that for quite a few people on this forum London is far away as well!) And really, what are they going to do? Say at the beginning of the first episode "Oh look we've been relocated to Birmingham?" We'll lose all our landmarks for location spotting! No St Pauls, no Millenium Bridge, Tower of London, Queen's House to name a couple.

And most importantly, where are Harry and Ruth going to do their off-site chats?

EDIT: Just checked and discovered that Birmingham is 150-ish miles from London -- not a distance the actors are likely to want to drive each day (according to google 3 hours each way), which means they'll have to be housed and fed in B'ham during shooting. It's hard to believe that cost will be offset by shooting outside London, but I guess someone at Kudos has crunched the numbers. Wonder how the cast will feel about that?
