zzVideo Episode 3 Discussion [rewatch]
The classic siege episode, including Tessa's shady past, Tom's ever complicated personal life and Harry shedding a tear for Helen.

RE: Episode 3 Discussion [rewatch]
I liked this episode. I thought it showed off the acting skills of Zoe and Tessa rather well. Their characters were very strong in this episode. I did wonder though where Tessa was walking to at the start of the episode when she was being followed by Johnny near the London Eye. She didnt appear in the office, only Harry and Danny were there?

Ellie must have been really dense to not have put two and two together when Tom disappeared and they announced a major siege was taking place down the road! Actually if I had a kid like Maisie at my birthday party, I may not have turned up either!

I loved Malcolm's sarcastic comment to Tom when he messed up the negotiating with the hostage takers. I also loved the way Tessa just ignored Harry when she walked into his office with the tunnel map.

I did wonder how on earth Tessa could afford such a swanky flat on a civil service salary. Also I wondered was the story of her getting pregnant actually true? I guess we will never know this. I assume she terminated the pregnancy rather than lost the baby also?

Got to see a bit about how ruthless Harry had been in his past. He had clearly with his own hand killed Johnny's brother my mistake. He didnt seem to flinch at this. He did flinch at Helen's death though in this episode. Perhaps he does have a heart. Perhaps.

Tea Lady, have you read my mind today? It's all I wanted to say about the episode... Tongue
Why this annoying kid talk like that, so overacted!! I hate how she says "Matheeww?!"

I do doubt the story about Tessa being pregnant in the past... I don't think it's true...

It was a moving scene when Harry deleted Helen's file, I love how he touches his face.

Sorry Beatriz. I said a lot as it was the first post and I was trying to get things moving a little. I agree, I couldnt really see Tessa having or wanting a baby, or getting pregnant by accident. Actually I didnt really think Johnny was that attractive. Tessa is much more an attractive woman than he is a man, in my opinion. Yes Harry was lovely in that moment. Why was he in the office anyway. Guilt, lonely?

There's nothing to forgive!! I was only kidding Tongue

You never know who you fall for... I agree he wasn't attractive but you never know... I do think Tessa was in love with him but I don't believe she got pregnant by accident (no way she would have wanted to have a baby) but again you never know... though I reckon she told him that to touch his soft side and make him give her the cd with all the data.

As for Harry, I'd say both... He must have been devastated, she was killed in her first undercover operation... He prefered to be in his office than at home... I think he became a bit workaholic due to his lonelyness

RE: Episode 3 Discussion [rewatch]
I thought this was a very strong episode, and I really liked it. It seems like everyone involved with Spooks truly got into their stride with this one, from the actors right down to the editing people.

I laughed out loud at Zoe telling that snivelling guy she pretended was her husband at the beginning that she wasn't any good at bullshitting people.

Harry at the office on a Saturday in his three-piece suit - I agree Tea Lady and Beatriz that the poor bastard really does not have a private life. This episode was the first to give us an indication that there is more to Harry than meets the eye, and to hint at what an interesting character he would become. He had some really good scenes with Tessa - those two's dislike of each other is quite obvious, and Harry doesn't seem to trust her at all. He also put two and two together and figured out pretty quickly what was really going on. And of course the indication at the end how ruthless he can be, when he didn't show any remorse for killing Johnny's brother. This was nicely juxtaposed with Harry's softer side at the beginning where he was clearly affected by Helen's death.

I also agree that it was a strong episode for Tessa, and her duplicitous nature is beginning to show here. Why doesn't she immediately inform the others about her suspicions that Johnny Marks was involved? I wonder, if Harry hadn't caught her with the file, when she would have told them. Also, how on earth does she afford such a swanky flat on her civil service salary? I did think, though, that she really was pregnant and lost the baby, not due to an abortion but rather complications with the pregnancy.

And I loved Malcolm and Colin in this episode.

I still don't like the kid, and Ellie is beginning to get on my nerves as well. Either she trusts Tom/Matthew or she doesn't, but she keeps vascillating between the two options.

LOL, yes Harry had his suit on. Normal people who go into the office at the weekend when they dont have to, just put their jeans on. Why get all dressed up when nobody will see you and you have no meetings to go to? Also Malcolm came into the office with his suit and tie on. Then again I am not sure I ever saw Malcolm without a tie.

I love Malcolm in his beret, so cute Smile I think he wears it in this episode.

Yes, this was very well showed, a person has many different faces (I mean in a good way, perhaps "face" is not the right word) and it depends on the circumstances that person show one face or another.

RE: Episode 3 Discussion [rewatch]
I'm watching it at the moment, so... OK, my major gripe with this episode - the sequence in the van when they're talking about Johnny, it seems really wooden. Especially the bit where the guy, dunno his name, is saying "Today the Turkish government will release our mother and father." It all seems a bit too scripted for me, it doesn't quite make me believe that they are real, that they really said that, but that may just be me.

Love the split screen going on Smile I wish I could do split screen on my computer :sighs: And Matthew McFadyen looks very cool jogging. He looks very spooky with the glasses. Was this the time when he had conjunctivitis? I heard somewhere that he had to wear sunglasses during an episode because he had it?

In response to Silktie and everyone else who's been talking about Harry in a three-piece suit, maybe it was more out of habit? Whenever I have to go into school at weekends or something like that, I feel more comfortable wearing my 'school clothes' than wearing my weekend baggy clothes. Perhaps he does it just in case there's an emergency, or if he has an impromptu meeting? It's quite funny how Tom is the only one dressed informally on the Grid - obviously the others all had enough time to get changed before the meeting Tongue But Tom then gets changed in time for his party with Malcolm in the van (24 minutes in). Don't know why I called it a party. I'm sure they were having a party in there Tongue

Second gripe of the episode - why does Harry delete Helen's file? I know she's dead, but still, wouldn't her file stay on the hard drive, just in case they needed some information from it? Oh, and a quick moment of pure happiness - a fight scene with a steady camera! Heart Brilliant

I know that people don't really like Maizie, and I agree with you - in that scene she is really irritating. My youngest sister was acting like that at dinner today Thcussing An accurate portrayal of a fairly young child in my opinion (actually my sister is 11 but she still acts like that...) And for some reason I find when Tom's on the phone to Ellie and the car pulls up outside the house without them noticing really funny. Don't know why, I just do.

Does Harry say to check with Section B or D for the thermal imaging? That really confused me, as I keep hearing D and I thought they worked in Section D?

Party trick shown by the people at about 25 minutes in, pulling a tablecloth from the table without removing the stuff on the table. Niiiice.

Coliiiin!!! Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin hehe. Malcolm has a geeky friend with him Smile I haven't got round to seeing 1+2 yet, so can't remember if Colin is in those ones either, but hey, it's Colin! And he hasn't got a stupid goatee.

Bit stupid that Johnny Marks transfers the money to his own bank account. Easy to trace... mind you, they know who is the mastermind behind the operation anyway, so it doesn't really matter. But if they didn't? I think I'm getting a bit too into this episode.

Conversation between Tom and the Kurds=love Two of the best bits in the episode were there:

Tom: Is there anything you need?
Leyla: Trojan horse, isn't that what you call it? Send supplies in, attached with bugging devices? No thank you.
Tom: We can do that, we can also do pizzas, with just the classic toppings.

And then Malcolm's comment "Excellent. That went rather well didn’t it?" I love that line Big Grin Oh and Johnny Mark's line of goodbye in Kurdish, it sound so cool. Just as cool as the line
Series 8 Spoiler: show
in the episode with Usarov where he says "Don't you worry about the Russians. I nearly had that as my ringtone!

Sorry, very long, I have rambled quite a bit...

DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered.

RE: Episode 3 Discussion [rewatch]
I think Tessa really was pregnant and lost the baby. This was heartbreaking and showed Tessa's softer side, and perhaps what lead to her been so hard/cold. And wonderful acting !

I loved the idea that it was Saturday and therefore a day off, suggesting MI-5 tend to work Monday to Friday.
