Helen's Gruesome End...

RE: Helen's Gruesome End...
AWFUL. AWFUL. AWFUL. AWFUL. AWFUL.

And one of the reasons I can't watch episodes twice. I might think I want to see them again but there's always something I just can't take. Even covering the eyes wouldn't work for a re-watch of this one.

Rooftop scene:
Beth and Dmitri sneak up and disarm Lucas, cuff him and lead him away.
Lucas screams, "No Harry please, I'd rather die!"

Harry: "We're sending you to rehab ................. in Texas."

I quite liked that dramatic effect of her death. In a non-sick way. I can stand that sort of thing, I just can't stand cringing scenes.

DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered.

Yeah, I agree. I'm ok with imaging what happened, but I can't watch those kind of scenes if they actually show all the blood and gore -- seeing it happen really turns my stomach.

More often sound is more powerful than image. I doubt they even considered showing any of it.

I agree. There's very little limit to what you can do on tv, but there is a limit to what you can show. In series 6
Spoiler: show
they torture Zaf, and they tell us that they can only recognise him through dental records. That could be a terrifying and traumatic thing to watch, even just seeing his body later could have been a step too far. But we never see his body, we are only told, not shown what has happened, so it's fine for broadcast.

I remember seeing the plugs for the new spy show at the time and I thought 'that looks a bit synthetic and showy; not watching that'. Never did I think it was a gritty as it was. As soon as I read about people complaining I watched it (episode 3) and totally fell in love with it.

So I knew about Helen's death before I finally saw the episode but I am more than happy to admit I was wrong in those very early days! And having watched some 24 from around the same time ('02), there's no comparison - it's Spooks 6-0 24!

Same here - I heard about the scene & that is what made me start watching the show. That episode is one of the few I feel uncomfortable watching again.

RE: Helen's Gruesome End...
They showed this clip of Spooks in the '20 greatest TV shows of the noughties'. I cringed.

My mum says that it made her not want to watch Spooks as it was too horrible, and i've been trying to convince her that's the worst that's happened in the show.

Ooh, that's quite a bold statement! Your Mum will be upset when she realises there are plenty other gruesome scenes in the programme you failed to mention.Wink Personally, there were other scenes that were more shocking to me because they actually showed what happened -
Spoiler: show
Colin's hanging, for instance. That visual image of him hanging there is harrowing.

I know what you mean, but i feel that she'll believe me up until a certain point and then not care about it anymore. Tongue (It's just getting her to watch that's the problem).

Seriously though, a deep fat fryer is not the nicest thing to think of washing your hair in...

Yeah, I'll second that. And what about
Spoiler: show
Ben's untimely end. I think that may be the most horrific image I've seen in all of spooks.
