RE: Series 9 Episode 3 discussion
Not a fan of the whole romance of Maya and Lucas, but I will say that it goes down a lot better than Lucas/name we shall not speak. I think there is a bit more chemistry there, but I don't think this romance is necessary unless it's relevant to Vaughn.
I don't understand why the writers feel like they need a romance. Series 7 had no romance and it was brilliant! What's going on spooks writers?!?!?

Can't stand the love sick puppy act Lucas has going on. Bring back cold, hard, ruthless & detatched Lucas. I also don't like the way these bits of story are tagged onto the end of the episodes as it feels like there is no relevence to spooks (I hope it makes more sense as each episodes are shown otherwise they are a complete waste of time)

I was thinking that maybe Lucas has all these women in his life because perhaps his mother abandoned him has a child and it would also explain why he seems to craves trust and approval from Harry (a kind of father figure). Just a thought. Or maybe it's because he spent 8 years in a prison with no female company and he's making up for lost time.

I could do without any Lucas romance altogether, why they think we need them every series I don't know. How about a little Harry & Ruth romance

Was he saying though, the reason he finished with Maya and disappeared was that he went to prison for 8 years? Or was Lucas saying that he paid the price for leaving Maya and letting her think he was dead, as he ended up in prison for 8 years as a sort of punishment for what he did? I am just a bit confused here as surely the timeline is wrong. Wasn't Lucas in Africa 15 years ago, say 1995? Wasn't he in the Russian prison 2000-2008?
As much as I *loved* 'close your eyes' plus kiss, I did want to know what happened and went Huh Huh when he said he's been 8 years in prison. It just doesn't add up. He was *married* to Elizabeta (my fav love interest so far) when he was captured, let's say they were married 1 or 2 years. He hasn't seen Maya in 15 years, minus the 9-10 at least of being LN, we have the 4-5 years that the explanation supposedly was about.

I just thought he was lying when he spoke to Maya in his flat and why the sudden urgent urge to tell her everything? Lucas is up to something here. Maybe Maya is innocent ??
I thought he looked for Maya because he needs her in some way against Vaughn, like he reminded Lucas of her maybe as a threat and this 'relationship' is about 'I loved you, I remember, we can take up from last time'.

The scientist-daughter thing reminded me of DaVinci's code, the whole 'we keep a secret that must not fall into the wrongs hands and we will die if we have to' Blush

I'd also like to know more about Dimitri, he might take a bigger role once the whole Vaughn-Lucas things develops BUT not before Tariq gets some development too.

LNF Smile

I thought that they were divorced before he was captured in Russia.

I will be seriously steamed if he is using Maya not least because I don't get that all from RA's acting.

With Sarah I got that it was a physical relationship more than anything and couples do have relationships based on sex.

With Maya its the body language that says he loves her, not so much in the kiss scene which was so much better than any with SC,but when he first finds her photograph, looks her up on the MI5 data base and sees her at the hospital. The gentle smile and soft glow in his eyes when she touches his chest to see if he is real just before she slaps him and the hurt in his eyes immediately after all say to me that he cares deeply

Honest I really should not watch this so much

So....the saga of Lucas's love life continues.....although I can't blame Maya for caving in so easily, I would have jumped him as soon as he opened the door! Blush Heck, probably would have jumped through the door if needed! Silba

I thought this episode was very intriguing and certainly more than entertaining enough, not to mention thought-provoking too. Harry does good with being sneaky and snarky to the FSB! Smile

I gotta love that fake video feed, for some reason I couldn't stop laughing at Lucas's "desperate" attempt to save Viktor and I was wondering how no one detected the false tone of concern in his voice.....okay I admit, I used to sit around and listen to Lucas speak all the time so I can hear changes in his voice...but that's not the point....Silba

I sense conflict between Ruth and Harry, but I have faith they will figure it out, they always seem to.

Beth, Dimitri, and Tariq still just hop around aimlessly, hopefully there are future storylines for them, although that may not come this series since it seems very H/R and Lucas orientated. Well, at least Lucas has new friends...Smile I was worried that the poor thing was gonna have to save London from doom all by his lone-some. Oh and he seems to have moved as well, nice flat with big shining windows...definitely different than his last dungeon of a home, but unless he's suffering from sun deprivation, he may think about getting smaller windows so snipers don't shoot him....Wink Last thing I need is for Lucas to suffer from the Miami-Orange-Glow that so frequently appears on CSI Miami....

I kinda did wish that Vaughn had taken Lucas's offer to tell Harry everything, that surely would have moved the storyline a lot quicker!

And I'm still concerned about Lucas's survival in this series, I don't want him to die!!!Vueltasss

I'm enjoying that they're all lying. What a great thread.

If I was Maya (I wish) I would've caved in at the HOSPITAL, or better, locked the door and...[Bo pulls the curtain across] Silba

I rather think that Lucas's (and others) flats are probably serviced apartments, and MI5 (etc) move them round often rather than have them in one place and be a steady target. Yeah, but the large windows...not a good choice for an MI5 agent, rented or not.

Loved the back and forth deception--lots of fun!

But this is spooks we're talking about here--must be bullet proof glass and, knowing our boy Lucas, he probably installed it himself using a paperclip, and chewing gum, combined with some sort of specialized metal tool piece he just happened to have in his pocket for just such an occasion Wink

On another note, after last week's Keyser Soze chatter, I couldn't help laughing when we got a limping, nondescript terrorist handed to us this time around Smile

The problem I have with Maya being untrustworthy and working with Vaughen is that is a repeat of the Sarah story line

When I saw his house with those windows/patio doors my first thought was...who is going to get thrown through the glass !

Loved the idea of Lucas having a little garden with a shed (every man needs a shed) and a pond.

Lucas 8.4: It's all about trust, isn't Harry ?.
