RE: Series 9 Episode 5 Discussion
I enjoyed this episode better than the last two. Most of you have already hit my thoughts on the head, so I won't repeat them.

I am anxious to see next week's episode after that trailer at the end.
Series 9.6 trailer Spoiler: show
(Ruth touching Harry's hand- gasp! Lucas's past finally coming out?
Oh the drama!)
Oh, and I'm also glad that MI-5 was able to protect the leader of the free world.
Haha. Smile I'm just messing with you, picard1109. Had to throw that in. Smile

RE: Series 9 Episode 5 Discussion
All a bit melodramatic and some silly gaffs in the script writing ~ Lighthouse was supposed to sneak out the back of Buck House into unmarked car but look what turned up at the hotel and Beth's return from her near-death experience with a "Hi Lucas, yes I'm fine" and not telling him about the terrorist's work on the cctv camera. The daughter being the one wanting to kill the president was glaringly obvious but still loved it, especially the Grid scenes which are so much better than spooks rushing around the streets waving guns in the air. Finally we got to see Dimitri do more than stand and look pretty but he seems to have the same rooky problems as Beth so if Lucas goes they are in serious trouble. I now think I may have got it wrong about him as I had thought he was on to Vaughn and Maya but perhaps not.

Series 9.6 trailer Spoiler: show
Sorry H/R fans, that trailer was put in there to wind you up. I reckon there was a huge BUT about to emit from Ruth's lips.

I'm with you Molecatcher. I thought that the episode's ending was far too convenient and that Anna, as assassin, was glaringly obvious. The Maya/Vaughn/Lucas/John bit was twigged weeks ago. Vaughn has managed to compromise L/J personally and professionally so is it curtains for him? Albany is a fudge.

Series 9.6 trailer Spoiler: show
The trailer for next week's episode is far too good to be true. I have always, always wished for a happy ending for Harry and Ruth but know that, dramatically, it's never going to happen. Sir Harry and Lady Ruth of Albany....does have a ring to it.

I think we all guessed Vaughan's "stroke" was fake. As for Lucas/John/Vaughan/Michael/Maya - how many more bloody names? Time this part of the plot was wound up, or at least Albany unveiled (part or full) but I doubt that's until the end of episode 8. Don't like Lucas's longevity for S10 after next week's trailer.

And Ruth and Harry...hmmm...somehow this isn't feeling right either (and yet I want it to be).

RE: Series 9 Episode 5 Discussion
OK - woke up at 3am and apparently I had a Idea moment...(which I am not claiming to be the first to have this idea)

After watching 9.5 and computing the implications of the 9.6 promo I think that Lucas is Lucas and John is a sleeper agent created by "Albany". Vaughan has "woken" him up with the suitcase and using Maya as the trigger...somehow the Chinese are involved (although they made no attempt on Lucas this week) OK so I don't have it completly figured out (it was 3AM Blush)

As I mentioned in my earlier 9.5 post about Lucas/John - notice RA's face when he comes to Maya's door - he is John, head over heels in love/lust - he doesn't have Lucas' coolness and I don't think he is even dressed like Lucas. John appears to have a more casual/relaxed look where as Lucas tends to have a more structured look (the infamous Series 9 jacket) There are big time mind games going on here with some sort of dual personality...and I am I still trying to figure out how much Harry knows. I'm still flip flopping back and forth on that one...

Did I mention that I woke up at 3:00 AM thinking of this stuff....Huh

RE: Series 9 Episode 5 Discussion
What made me laugh, actually, was the supposed locations and 'sight lines'. I'd love to know how someone can have a sight line from the roof of a building which looks at the OXO building (on the South Bank), so looking south...when the hotel's supposed to be in Mayfair. That's one heck of a circuitous route for that bullet to take!

Anyone know where the 'hotel' location was? Greenwich Maritime, perhaps? Some of the supposedly surrounding buildings looked like they were in Docklands to me...but then, I've not been to Mayfair recently and skyscrapers could have sprung up. LOL

"Where's Harry?"
"Moving in mysterious ways."

RE: Series 9 Episode 5 Discussion
Another very good weekly episode I thought. I loved the team all working together so well. I was always expecting Anna to do something with the others or alone but there was still tension and twists aplenty.

I feel that Ruth continues to rise in assurance and prominence as the opposite is happening to Harry. This raises some very interesting possibilities as to why they might be doing that.

Lucas has indeed been two different people this series, although, his shortness with Tariq may be an indication that his tension is not controllable in his operational life any more. Richard Armitage's comment about Lucas unravelling this series would seem to be well under way.

Poor you, tyme4t, you must be tired. In this theory then, why did Vaughn say to Lucas when he first saw him "What has it been like..being Lucas North, of course?" If it helps, I didn't get to sleep until 2am with all of this going on!

Picard, I thought I actually saw the corner of the MI6 building in one shot, which is Vauxhall Cross area! That's miles away. I also thought they had used the interior of this building before. I remember the staircase and circular balcony area. Perhaps from an episode with Adam in it, possibly the Havensworth episode??

Haven't had much of a chance to post things on the locations thread this year. May have to wait until the series has finished.

Tyme4t surely if Albany was the project that Lucas/John worked on then when Vaughn/Michael asked for it then he would have known what it was about but he didnt look like he had a clue what the file was.

Series 9 Spoiler: show
In a GMTV interview they said something along the lines of "So Lucas North isn't who we thought he was" to which RA replied "He isn't who I thought he was." (Emphasis on 'I')

It seems the real Lucas will surprise everyone and indeed already surprised RA himself.

Can't wait for next week to find out more, although did really enjoy last night's episode as it was great teamwork and very Spooks.
