New Filming Location
Has anyone seen the article where Kudos are thinking of filming S9 (If there is one) in Birmingham instead of London.

There am I planning on moving from the midlands down to London and they might be moving my favourite programme upto the midlands.

RE: New Filming Location
I heard Kudo was planning a crossover episode with a French show "Engrenages". 2-part episode, one shot in London, one in Paris.

It worked for Hustle, but with Spooks there are soooo many more landmarks... that's one of the best parts of Spooks.. you see where they are, you recognise it and it feels more real....

I don't like this Sad

I'd heard, that they would still pretend it was London by using some of the usual London landmarks in shots but possibly film in Birmingham. No idea if there is any truth in that or any truth in the whole moving thing altogether.

RE: New Filming Location
From what I understand though with Hustle they're still trying to make the series London based even though most of the filming is in Birmingham. Assuming Screen WM are going to invest in Spooks like they have with Hustle then I would think that it will still be a London based setting. Hustle has the sets built in Birmingham but some scenes are being shot in London. The Grid can be anywhere but the outside scenes may well still be shot in London. Sorry that was all a bitt waffly but I hope you get what I mean!

RE: New Filming Location
oh.... so it won't COMPLETELY move to Birmingham? If it's just the interior shots then I don't mind..

RE: New Filming Location
I hope it will just be the interior shots, I don't stand a chance of recognising locations in Birmingham! Tongue

It's what they do in the US with shows like CSI - most of it is filmed in L.A. then they film outdoor shots on location. Well, some of the time anyway - apparently roof-top shots can be blue-screened & then Miami or Las Vegas skylines are added,

RE: New Filming Location
They do the same thing with many shows. The West Wing, for example, was pretty much shot in LA, but they flew to Washington DC once a month to shoot exteriors. They could easily do the same thing for Spooks.

My main theory about this is that the actors might not be crazy about moving to Birmingham for 3 months. It's far enough away that they couldn't commute daily, and it's not like Doctor Who where you're in Cardiff for 9 or 10 months. It's an awkward time frame to move your life, and remember that NW and HN (if she stays) have young kids - they'd be reluctant to move all that just for a couple of months. Not to mention the people both those women are married to - they also work in the industry and moving to Birmingham for a couple of months might not be possible.

RE: New Filming Location
Birmingham isn't that far away from London - even if they couldn't commute daily it would only take a couple of hours to get to and from by car, even faster by train..
