Spooks Movie

RE: Spooks Movie
Keep in mind it appears to be a fairly successful show with a formula that works well and makes it easy to replace actors. It's feasible for Spooks to run for 20 years.

RE: Spooks Movie
That's true, Bertowud. But the 'bean counters' of this world are always trying to save $$$$.... I think that I shall make a point of reminding the BBC that there are MANY Spooks fans in Australia, not that I expect that they will listen to me, but one must persist!!!
I have just visited the BBC website. I made a comment of appreciation about Spooks and mentioned that I hoped they would continue to make the series.

I also went to the ABC site which is the network that shows Spooks here in Australia. I asked whether the ABC had plans to purchase Spooks Series 8; and if so, when it would go to air in Australia. (Although given the saga that has taken place regarding the timing by the BBC, I'm not confident that the ABC will tell me anything, especially as I noticed that the ABC doesn't provide information about program schedules more than 4 weeks in advance. But one can only try....)

If I receive any reply from either BBC or ABC I will advise.

RE: Spooks Movie
A Spooks movie seems like a really bad idea to me. Many quality TV shows have been killed by a film being released.

If it was a major terror disaster that justified the additional time and money spent, it might be good. Then again, if it was just a normal episode, I don't think so. I think part of the problem is that MI5 isn't that good tv. Sure, the action part is, but the paperwork? The weeks of surveillance? They're cut in the episodes, but then again the episodes are a brief glimpse of what happens over a week, month, but rarely a couple of days, so they can skip out the boring part. I don't know if it would work with being shown in double time. Does that make any sense?

P.S. I definitely agree with you Fidget!!! Harry and Ruth would be a must to have in it!

I think if it was a kind of TV movie, more like a Spooks special it would be worth it. Something with a storyline that would be too long to do in a one hour series and wouldn't do well as a two parter. They could really get their teeth stuck into a good script and not be restricted by time. I liked last year how the BBC did a two parter to introduce the new series. Something like that might be better. It would have to be something really special, some kind of apocalypse storyline. The end of the world as we know it kind of thing!Undecided

RE: Spooks Movie
Or a real crossover with another show, as they used to do between Homicide and L&O.

In spooks S1, there was an episode where the team dealt with an Intel Officer from the French foreign intelligence service... The concept could be furthered, and we could imagine one episode filmed in London with the French actors, the next in Paris with the MI5 actors chasing an IRA cell which never heard of the Good Friday Agreement, as they were left as sleepers in the depth of rural Burgundy...Cool

That would be so cool...Wink

RE: Spooks Movie
I don't think a movie would work very well. Often TV series made in to films just seem to run out of ideas in the middle.
If you want a feature length version just watch some of the two parters together Big Grin

How about MI5 and MI6 having to work together on a case? That should be interesting as they seem to hate each other's guts, so a few sparks should fly!

RE: Spooks Movie
Would a MI5/MI6 Crossover feature film work? Probably. But would it make sense as a Spooks film?
