I love cars too! I actually harbour a secret wish to be a mechanic.

RE: Spooks Wheels
Then be a mechanic! We had a talk at school (the school I go to school is the type of school that expects everyone to become the lawyers, doctors, etc kind of jobs,) and we had a talk from an ex pupil who had tried doing accountancy I think it was, didn't like it, became a plumber and loves it. Actually, we so far haven't had a single lawyer, medic talk yet, much to the amazement of my year.

My older sister was trained as a mechanic in the US Army -- saves her a fortune on doing routine servicing to her cars and motorcycle! I guess those skills are transferable from tanks and the like. LOL

This thread is about cars in Spooks, or cars that real Spooks drive.

OK - back on topic. I was somewhat surprised that in the last series the pool cars started looking more up-scale as the last time I was in London (which admittedly was 10-ish years ago) my recollection was more Mini than Lexus. I'm guessing things have changed!

RE: Spooks Wheels
Since the congestion charge was brought in, I guess people favor the Lexus's for their hybrid technology, because then they don't have to pay the congestion charge lol.

Plus, Lexus's are pretty nice cars, so they still have that "executive" quality that we expect Spooks to have Smile

RE: Spooks Wheels
Actually, that probably was a major deciding factor in Spook cars - they realised that they had to pay the congestion charge so bought more environmentally friendly cars Wink

I think they have that underlying rule of being impressive but forgettable.

RE: Spooks Wheels
I am curious as to what sort of motorbikes spooks use. They're used twice on the show that I can think of: once in 1.2, with the bike's rider taking out Kevin McNally's character and once fictionally
Spoiler: show
in 4.10, as Zaf explains how Diana might have been killed.
I don't know how common bikes are in London though, so I'm not sure what the balance would be in blending in/upmarket motorbikes. You wouldn't want anything too lightweight though, not in a windy, wet city.

On a related subject: when Penry Jones and Peter Firth were on Top Gear, was there any discussion about what cars might be used by the Security Services?
