[spoilers] Harry and Ruth. The Wonder Years.

Series series9 response to NW interview Spoiler: show
Perhaps there will be some form of relationship started, the tension is almost unbearable up to now. However, I think that after the scene on the Embankment could perhaps be what makes her think about her relationship with Harry and realise that there could be some form of relationship between the two of them without having to give up work and live in a little London suburb.

I don't know if it will be as you have said though with perhaps a casual relationship, surely there is nothing at all casual about their relationship I mean 3 years to have a bit of a snog! There could be a spur of the moment thing happen though, a kind of falling into each others arms, perhaps if something happens to Ruth in her episode.

HR are worse than ever this season. The continuous back and forth is boring and unproductive, far better to use that screen time to develop newer characters rather than flogging the old decomposed corpse of a horse that is HR.

The thing is that I don't think that they would bother to develop the characters further with the extra five minutes per episode they'd gain. In the previous series, when HR wasn't really focussed on, we still had barely any development of the minor characters, especially the techies, who never had much attention. As far as I'm concerned, the more HR screen time, the less Lucas screen time so the less I'm tempted to walk out of the room in pure annoyance that Spooks has once again become a one-man show... (Sorry I wrote a massive rant about Lucas, and then realised I was on the HR thread, so it's been deleted Big Grin)

Anyway, back to HR. That is an awesome way to think of HR Tea Lady! I really like that Smile

Series 9 episode 4 trailer Spoiler: show
It looks like it may be an episode focussing on Ruth, from how much she is in in the trailer, so we had better get an insight into what she's thinking. We're not psychic!

DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered.

RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth. The Wonder Years.
Last night me and hubby sat through 9.3 (again!), no matter what happens to HandR in the future it was a cracker for them..

I loved..

When they were all in the meeting room and Ruth couldn't bear to look at Harry

When Harry said " Go ahead say it...

The encounter over the HS.."we have to work together"

The corridor scene.....where she should have kissed him!

The embankment.."sometimes you have to give a man a chance...

Brilliant, I loved this episode, IMO best HR ever.....I am still eating cake and don't think they will be a fab happy ending but i do think there will be more HR scenes/connections...

Series 9 response to NW interview Spoiler: show
I don't quite mean that it will be just a casual relationship, but I think they will stay away from giving it a name, if you know what I mean, or officially call it dating or anything like that. I see it as possibly closer than ever emotional support of each other, with the added bonus of physical interaction. But I don't see anything casual about it - let's face it, these two can't spell casual between them.

I am intrigued that so many people are voting for option 2. There haven't been many of us articulating that point of view over the last few weeks.

RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth. The Wonder Years.
That's because we think we'll get thrown out of the Optimists Corner if we admit to it!!!

Ok, I was one of them, I admit it. But given the whole confusion that Ruth seems to be going through regarding Harry, I think that they need to show more of her trying to work out what she wants. At the moment it's doing neither of them any favours if they keep trying to define their relationship when Ruth has no idea what she wants, or to a certain extent, what she feels about Harry. It's just getting them both hurt. If she had said yes, but still felt guilty about George, or whatever, then it just would have made her unhappy being married to him.

TBH I just think she's scared of getting married to Harry because that would imply that they were close, and I think that she probably has trust issues at the moment. From what I can see she seems to trust everyone on the Grid with her life, and the lives of everyone that they try to protect, but she doesn't really trust any of them with her heart, not even Harry. After all, from what I can tell she doesn't seem to spend much time with her family, her friends keep dying, and a man who was sort-of-ish married to her was killed by her job. She's probably trying to put a wall up to prevent people getting too close, because she's afraid of getting hurt again.

...And that's why I pressed that button! End of rant.

P.S. Is it obvious from this post that I'm meant to be working at the moment Tongue Oopsy...

RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth. The Wonder Years.
Nicely put almh! I've missed your posts Smile

It doesn't take a psychologist to figure out why she is not jumping into Harry's arms. She gave up EVERYTHING to make sure that Harry could stay and do his job. Then she lost her adopted family and new life by being dragged back into Five. It's easy to feel like things can be snatched away from her at any moment and not everyone has the 'live for the moment' attitude.

I agree, but then again why can't she tell Harry all of this? Give him an explanation instead of putting walls up. He's not a mind reader.

I voted for the first option by the way.
