RE: Episode 2 Discussion
I have a feeling it could have been double barrelled -remember the irony of an anti American organization calling themselves after such a treaty. A veiled threat?

Then again, Lucas may not be aware of Yalta (season 6 Yalta). Before his time. He had 8 years to catch up on, Yalta may not have figured.

Oooh, are you saying that MI5 were supposed to have been found out to deliberately wreck the deal? But then again they only figured out that Jo was MI5 when they saw her leaving the hotel and at Bee Bee's flat. Jo wasnt supposed to be at Bee Bee's.

Yes I cant remember what she said exactly, it was something like "its like Yalta all over again." Surely the writers wouldnt put a Yalta joke in about Churchill, Stalin, Roosevelt, when we all know Yalta as being

RE: Episode 2 Discussion
Honestly, I got out for a couple of hours and we've already done 2 more pages! And it hasn't been shown on BBC 1 yet!

Whoever said it (because I really can't remember and it was a lot of posts ago!) about Tariq - he does need a back story. And why on Earth was Christine 2.0 referencing Yalta? Does it mean that they're having a comeback?

DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered.

Maybe Yalta is a clue for something that happens in later eps?

I think (being the operative word) that someone, somewhere confirmed that Yalta doesn't return in this series.

I have nothing to back that up, it's just a memory lol.

Shame. I'd have liked to see Juliet get some comeuppance, spooks style.

He came into the Grid in series 7 episode 7, Malcolm realised someone had scrambled the phones in the Grid and the HS came in to tell them that another Russian person had been killed. *HS geek hat on*

Anyway, I haven't watched this episode yet so really I shouldn't be in this thread at all.....

I don't think the cats have died - I wonder if they mention them at all in this series, lol.

RE: Episode 2 Discussion
I liked this episode more too. Of course, I am newer to the show and a big RA fan so the fact that he is finally coming into his own as a former protege' of Harry's makes me excited. I love the guns blazing, Lucas barreling through the door character that they are building with Lucas.

This being said, I am loving the whole Harry/Ruth relationship and looking forward to how they will build on it from all that occured in episode 1. I like Tariq and think that he will be a nice, techie touch to the grid and kinda hope that Ros keeps him on his toes for a couple episodes. I kinda like this new side of Ros but want my kick butt Ros back. Loving the way Jo is coming out of her shell shocked condition and hope that soon she can find a bit of happiness too.

As far as Sarah Caulfield I like her with Lucas because it is a realy power struggle between them and I am interested from some comments RA has made about their relationship how they will get from trying to dominate each other to falling madly and deeply can't get enough of each other love story. I vaguely remember the Tom/Christine relationship and know it was a bit of a bore but for some reason, I am feeling that this Lucas/Sarah relationship is going to be more adult and tenacious but I don't think it will be a long withstanding type for many reason. It is Spooks and the likelihood of both of them surviving it won't happen, but as I posted on another board today on this subject and I am quoting an old email someone sent me a long time ago about people entering your lives for a Season or for a Reason. "They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part, or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered relationship." Sarah is going to be Lucas' reason and then he will move on. That is the path I think the writers are going down.

I am looking forward to more of Series 8 and hope and pray that Series 9 is fast on the horizon. Smile

RE: Episode 2 Discussion
The HS and Harry have come a long way since the HS okayed Harry and his team's assassination to appease the Iranians in season 6, haven't they? It was interesting to hear the HS say at the end that Harry was the only man he really trusted - not too long after having Harry interrogated on suspicion of being a Russian spy. I thoroughly enjoyed their interaction in this episode, that look the HS gave Harry after the Tazbeks came out with the photos of Jo was hilarious. One thing though - it was perhaps not the HS' best idea ever to take a grumpy, sulking Harry along to delicate diplomatic negotiations, where he promptly managed to insult Tazbekstan before even being introduced. Big Grin
